This was before mobile was everywhere. ICQ was a PC instant messenger that predated MSN Messenger.

It was nearly ubiquitous back in the day & it made a very distinctive sound when you got a message.

People asked for ICQ handles like they ask for IG handles now. Atm it was pure novelty …

hyves and pp2g were like the myspace of the Netherlands i think.. pp2g was a more urban kind of social media.. different target group, if i remember correctly

ohhh, that’s so cool, don’t think we really had that much of local online groups afaik, i think i got into computer games when i was like 4 or 5 years old, and it just went mostly straight into English and foreign people from there 🤔

Not for certain on this stock pic but I was running an Apple II+.

The + meant it had 64K of RAM instead of 48K.

The modem was internal AND external. You’d have to call to the internal slot by issuing “IN#2”, followed by , and the you’d get a dialing prompt. 😆

Everything was in CAPS so I’d basically be yelling everything. 🤦‍♂️

We’d connect to multiple online modems, chat and play text games.
