I find that, people who aren't into bitcoin are not as excited as I am about Nostr. They just don't fully get how profound this movement is.

I agree. I also have friends who are really concerned about free speech but don’t care at all about bitcoin. 🤷‍♂️

It's the pinacle of freedom. Where else can you store your time and energy?

Exactly. They don’t see the issues as being part and parcel of the same thing.

I will admit, the transition of thinking of bitcoin as your denominatior for everything is a hard and lengthy process. But it just takes some imagination and critical thinking to see the potential.

Agreed, or an external threats

that provides a lived experience that demonstrates the need for censorship resistant money. Need and pain are great motivators.

True

I've been trying to get my non-bitcoiner friend on here for months. Tbf tho I've been trying to orange pill him for years now too. He just doesn't listen to me.

It's because it isn't his idea. You can only ask the right questions. He/she has to come up woth their own answers.

I mention it every once in a while these days when I feel like talking about it but I don't try to convince people anymore. They know I'm a bitcoiner and nostrian and they'll come around some day.

Huge plus for Bitcoiners.

There's a hoard of "bitcoiners" on bird app that don't grok Nostr...

Since being active on BT, ~2018-19

I have never experienced a more cringe situation.

Nostr is obviously giving these people the exact same brain game Bitcoin itself gave them when they first encountered it.

We all went through it with Bitcoin, but damn - I guess some people just never learn & internalize lessons to be reapplied elsewhere.

Anyone who cries about censorship at the social media level at this point is an absolute clown, we solved that you dumbfucks.

One hundred percent!

It's a bit of a paradigm shift. Particularly if you haven't already had a paradigm shift with bitcoin.

I'm also guessing that many people see no reason to leave the big tech platforms (or venture outside if them), even if they don't like them, because that's where their friends are. Or because they play the algo game and have invested a lot into the rat race.

Like banks, Big Social is sticky. Takes a lot to cause someone to look elsewhere. Beyond that, there are so many *alternatives* that if you have not had the paradigm shift and cannot see how Nostr is so much more than social media, it probably seems like *just another alt social platform* in an ever growing sea of options.

I can't seem to enjoy very much in thr legacy world anymore. Can't watch a movie without letting go. I hate shows too. I can't turn my brain off unless I smoke weed or go golfing. It's like an existential crisis.

Are you talking about recreation / rest when you refer to turning your brain off?

I experience some of this as well. Perhaps in some measure it is the result of a lowered time preference.

Being in the creative arts, I love cinema and the craft of filmmaking, but there are so few shows or movies my wife and I even consider worth spending a few hours on anymore. Part of it is our season of life, part of it is the degeneracy of so much legacy content, and part of it is that I would rather be creating than consuming, and find rest elsewhere.

I can't enjoy downtime. Maybe it's anxiety. I'm also a workaholic.

I am positively the worst boss I have ever had.

Gift and a curse my friend. Gift and a curse.
