Yep.

Techlore has a recent review of it.

Gonna see it.

Yes, I always use it.

Am using it for years now and works fine

Yes works great

I just want Signal with lightning payments. Is it too much to ask?

Yes, since it was released. Highly recommend.

I thought Signal was fully open source, but maybe not according to Molly?

Also, I was not aware of this vulnerability in Signal desktop: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/signal-downplays-encryption-key-flaw-fixes-it-after-x-drama/

It looks like Molly adds a passphrase to protect databases in really old versions of Android that don't have a keystore, but otherwise I'm not sure it's necessary (and users might think it's a nuisance).

This isn't really a vulnerability imo. A bit overblown news.

I travel with my laptop, so it can be stolen rather easily. The thief can then read all of my private messages at their leisure. I expected better security from Signal. Sure, I can take additional steps to protect myself, but I didn't know I needed to with Signal.

Encrypt your hard drive?!

I already use encrypted vaults, but I guess I need to encrypt the whole partition/drive too. My point is this should not be necessary for a security-focused app like Signal.

Edit: I should have said "privacy-focused" in the previous post.

Yeah, I used it for awhile, no problems at all.

UMM…YOU HAD ME AT MOLLY!!

Yes. I wouldn't know it was a different app, other than it doesn't make me do a captcha every damn time I try to message someone.

When you message someone for the first time, the official signal app also does that. Do you get captchas for already existing conversations as well?

Yeah, my wife and I both got them for existing conversations. Molly doesn't do it, though.

Yes, it’s good. I appreciate the Tor integration

I use Signal with Orbot too. No problems experienced.

I guess the difference is that you either pump all traffic through Tor (works with every app) or you do it app-specific (requires apps with Orbot support).

Orbot offers menu, where you can select which from installed applications connects via Tor. I just selected Signal, Amethyst, etc... and it works.

Is it compatible with Signal? Like an alternative client?

Yup

Yes running since months.

Yes it's my daily driver

I use simplex but Molly is very good

lesson I learned recently is to activate an account with the official Signal app, register the username with that, then transfer the account to Molly (running on same device) so that people can find you via signal username.

Also of note is that valdrac and molly devs are trying to integrate in-app monero payments into it, funded by a community crowdfund.

makes me ponder.... when will someone fork and add in ecash?

ecash fork would be amazing but monero is still way better than this shit mobicoin stuff that nobody use.

MOB was a mess, last I checked it used a thing called mixin network, which is not functional, so you can't even swap the shitcoin anymore. Only on/off ramp is with KYC + cards

... at least Moxie got rich, I don't hate

here is more info on the monero+molly work:

Yes, for a few years now

Yeah, for groups that insist on Signal 💩

Simplex is much better
