Rough Day, was running circles around the 20 year olds at pickup hoops at the gym this morning and heard a pop in my Achilles. Praying its not a complete tear and just a partial tear so I would not need surgery πŸ™ #footstr . Weirdest injury I ever had. It felt like someone stepped on the back of my foot and I felt a pop but no one was behind me. Swelling but not a lot of pain. Anyone have an Achilles injury here before?

Already figuring out what I can continue to do at the gym if it is a complete tear. Shit like this does help you appreciate little things we do everyday like walking.

Ouch! Man sorry for you. I got one bit of advice, take the recovery slow and be serious about it. One of my best friends snapped Achilles on squash court and was laid up nearly 6 months. Little bit of physio and thought he was all good to go. Went to the squash court and the inevitable happened resulting in another 6 months. Slow and steady wins the race on this one. Don’t over stress it too soon. Also find a really good physio who gives a gradual stretching recovery program and see if you can find any chi gung studios. Good flow movements to stretch and recover.

My friend quit squash and is a well behaved late middle aged cyclist now!

Fingers crossed for you that it ain’t to bad.

Thanks for the advice. Yea that's my biggest fear rushing back onto basketball court just for it to happen again. I'm kind of a lunatic when I get into something so im planning to attack this recovery but from what im reading its about patience with it especially early. I told myself no basketball for the remaining of the year at least besides shooting around on my own. Still praying its a partial tear πŸ™

Sorry to hear about your injury my fellow random nostr dude. Them 20yr olds will always have age on their side even if we got the skills. Maybe take up chess...or HORSE? πŸ˜ƒ

May God bless your recovery.

Haha I have always loved basketball kind of my therapy. I just got be less competitive which is hard for me. Yea I got find some other activities for now as I recover.

Get well soon πŸ€

Sorry to hear that. Least you can still drive

Yea I drove myself to the hospital right from the gym lol.

LOL ive been there

My brother in Christ, we're not in our twenties anymore. Be careful trying to run around with the little rubber people.

I was feeling like I was in my 20s until the pop sound πŸ˜…. It stinks I have been doing so good in the gym for 4 months straight 5 days per week. Got to find a way to stay active now with this useless leg. Trying stay positive will find out this week if its a complete tear or partial tear.

It was messed up for 3 years before a doc would work on it. I wish you good luck on your recovery.

Wow had no idea sorry to hear about that. How did you hurt it? If you dont want to share or relive it I understand. I hope everything is much better now πŸ™

Just saw your previous message. What's the recovery timeline on that sounds painful. Sorry to hear man. The thing with this achilles I really dont have much pain for now. Pain is a killer. Hoping that subsidies for you.

Well I'm just short of 4 weeks right now. Most of the pain is gone. The first week was intense. I'd say the worst pain I've felt in my life and I have crushed bones during other injuries... Doc said 16 weeks for full recovery. Thanks, I'm trying to stay positive but I feel pretty useless for now. I can't bend my knee until March... But then I'll get to start rehab therapy.

Used to do some cool shit. Maybe again one day.

I did it while exiting and aircraft at 15,000' (Skydiving) but the guy behind me pushed me on exit so I slammed into the door frame. Cut the top of my knee and dislocated the patella.

Xlose

That is not an injury story you hear often. Pretty cool jumping out of planes. Glad you got to the ground safely still after being slammed into the exit door. Hope to see a picture of you jumping out again after full recovery. Crush the rehab when you get to the process. I'll be sure to check up on you during it. Glad the horror pain is done and now its just getting to that rehab starting line.

I gotta figure out how to upload videos here, but here's a link to a series of jumps that set the world record.

Never torn an Achilles but I did separate my quadriceps tendon from my patella and had reattach recently. I am pain.

My husband went through that years ago. Brutal. πŸ«‚

How long was it before he felt normal again? Yea the more I read its a very slow recovery 😞

A few months and he could walk well again. No more football (soccer), tho.

Thanks hope he is doing well now. Yea I already told myself no basketball at least the rest of the year. I'm mid 30s can't imagine giving it up yet. I know it will be a slow recovery hope I can remain positive throughout πŸ™

Do what you have to do to fully recover. πŸ«‚

πŸ«‚

πŸ™

Oh πŸ₯Ή get well soon πŸ«‚

Thank you πŸ™

πŸ«‚

Joey how you been doing? How has been to recovery process? Any recommendations?

Yo!

- take the rehab seriously

- find a centre with a weightless treadmill

- start lifting weights as soon as possible - even in the boot

- start doing mini calf raises (seated with something on your thigh) asap

you always have a little more in the tank than you think!

not sure if you ended up getting surgery - I didn’t - but in either case I think the rehab is largely the same

Hope you get well. It takes time in this case.

Thank you πŸ™

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Wishing you a speedy recovery πŸ«‚

Thank you I appreciate it πŸ™

Was it the Achilles? There is another little one that runs close which will fix itself after a few weeks. I had it pop and thought someone had hit me with a hockey stick… thought it was my Achilles then had the scans and turned out to be plantaris or similar… can’t remember the name… anyway most people don’t have the tendon at all and it fixes itself with rest/physio.

Hope that you have a speedy recovery :)

From what I see and what hospital told me its most likely the achilles but we will see after I get the MRI this week. I'm now praying its that anything besides a full tear of the achilles I'd be grateful for. You gave me another window of hope. Thank you. Glad yours wasn't the achilles and you had a quicker recovery.

Good luck with the MRI result :)

Best of luck

Dude I got my right Achilles tendon snapped playing basketball like 10 years ago. Had surgery, 3 months of NOT standing up on it (it might snap again if so). But with physio therapy (30 mins twice a week + electric massages), I recovered functionality 100%. Do NOT try walking until the therapist tell you is safe, you might not walk normally if not taken care of. it is serious even if partial snapped.

I'm sorry this happened, take care and you'll recover πŸ’―

Hugs πŸ«‚

Yea I'm getting MRI this week and seeing if I need surgery. Yea everything I read is about taking it slow in the recovery. If I do need surgery I'll follow that advice and only ramp up when its rehab time. Thanks I appreciate it hoping for the best mentally preparing for the worse. Glad to hear your back to full functioning.

πŸ«‚

Oohh πŸ₯Ί Get well soon!!

Surgery day, I was a little nervous but thank God everything went well. Was KO'd for three hours woke up surgery was done. Im back home. Hopefully the pain isn't to bad tomorrow. The foot is still asleep for now. Thank you to everyone who sent me well wishes. Mentally I was down and it helped πŸ™. I got amazing family and I'm very grateful. They gave me a sweet sock πŸ˜‚

My dad had that surgery when I was young. He said the tear was excruciating. At least the worst is over. Hope you have a swift and pain free recovery.

I hope he recovered fully and was able to be normal after. I luckily haven't had any pain to this point. When I hurt it initially it hurt but then got stiff and numb. I'm 20 hrs after surgery and its numb from the anesthesia still. Let's see how it feels when that wears off lol. Thank you for the wishes πŸ™

He did indeed fully recover with no long term issues. Thank you. And the surgery now is probably like 10x better. Godspeed.

Happy to hear man. Yea I'm lucky the surgery has come a long way. Hope to end up like your dad back to 100%. Thanks again πŸ™

I have no doubt you will.

Good morning - hope you get well soon IvanπŸ™πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼
