To me the word diversity is a joke.

Focussing on differences is a losing game.

If your people has a moral system in which there is anything else -- freedom, wealth, pleasure, adherence to a religious book, anything -- that is placed HIGHER in value than the survival of the group, then there will always eventually come a situation in which a choice must be made between survival of the group or adhering to that allegedly "higher" value. And, if the other thing is chosen, then the practitioner group of that moral system is not going to survive. Groups which always choose survival of the group as their highest value do survive.
So if this were actually true about populations then we wouldn't be seeing a collapse of various ethnically homogeneous groups around the planet.
Japan, Poland and South Korea aren't particularly friendly to mass immigration and culturally view imports as permanent outsiders resulting in a high degree of homogeneity among the population.
You're telling me all these countries are seeing collapsing populations, simply because they hold some form of moral system above the survival of their ethnic groups?
Sorry but I think it's more complicated than that and I really don't think you've proven anything other than you're a one-track thinker.
You're making a lot of assumptions about me, but that's okay, my writing isn't always as clear as it should be. I agree that there are many factors involved. But certainly if the value systems and leaders of those societies had group survival as their absolute top priority, they would be doing whatever is necessary to raise their birth rates -- and forbidding the entry of other races. I am not aware that any of the nations you mentioned are expressly doing that, nor exalting group survival as their value above all other values (as they should be doing). So I think the principle stands.

Let me ask then, how do you define "identity politics" in this case? I'm probably operating from a different understanding of that term so let's get on the same page there first. I don't want to make assumptions of your knowledge on this.
Diversity is simply a flase idol. An artificial "highest moral good" that rings hollow.

The problem is the word itself, like many others, has been hijacked by the far left to mean something totally different- being in an oppressed group AND buying into the woke crackpot conspiracy theory.
But true diversity can be great because it exposes you to different cultures, ideas and ways of thinking. As far as prosperity, it allows you to more effectively provide goods and services to a wider audience because you understand them better.

I don’t think diversity or lack of diversity should be forced or engineered.
However, some benefits of diversity include:
Enhanced innovation and creative thinking.
Increased ability to market and sell goods and services to a wider audience.
Access to different food, music, art
Preparation for interacting and negotiating with people in different parts of the world.

Like all things, it depends. If there are rules that are firm and not arbitrary, it is an advantage - look at Dubai. Immigrants want to live there, even though they will never be citizens, but everyone knows their place.
The West, on the otherhand, claims to treat eveyone as equals, even though it is plain to see for almost everyone that it is a lie. DEI discriminates against white men. The muslim "house guests" in western europe are raping the host's daughter and stabbing the hosts son, while the government is trying to hide the bodies. In the US, poor blacks are programmed to hate, and that violence and theft is justified, while taxpayers foot the bill for them to continue having more children. This cannot continue for long.

I tend to think rainforests are the most “prosperous” environments. Very diverse… but also savage.
But I don’t think skin color really compares here. More like a community where there are diverse supportive skills.
And you can’t have a community where everyone speaks different languages…
Japan is homogenous. And very impressive in so many ways… but I think a Japanese fisherman there may relate more to some Greek guy than to a banker in Tokyo.
Anyway I have no idea what I’m rambling about.
But a key reason why we here believe in free speech is that a diversity of opinions makes us all smarter and gives us more options.

So height is very correlated with basketball ability.
But not many teams have all 7+ footers. Sometimes a team needs a lil guy dribbling low to the ground bounce passing through a defense…
The key is this is a team/coach/program decision and they are not picking “diverse” players for the sake of diversity.
Color of skin and race are two different things. There are races, for example, in New Guinea and sub-Saharan Africa that have essentially the same skin color but are as different genetically as two races can be. Skin colors in Japan overlap those in Europe to some degree, but those races have been evolving apart for tens of thousands of years. But don't kid yourself: Race is highly significant; racial "equality" is non-existent; and racial divergence is necessary for human evolution to continue.

Not strictly, but the fact that most people interpret the question that way shows how important those characteristics are.
I agree with you about the neighbor argument.
For any entity or organization, add that which better enables it to move in the desired direction, whether like you or different.
For example, here in America the desired direction from the “traitors within” is its destruction, hence forcing diversity moves it in that direction.
