You can also be banned from a relay on nostr though. Think of it as there is only one server currently for atproto. Mods of other servers can have their own rules.

However, let's note that over here we're having relay-level censorship too, already.
It seems far more appropriate for a node runner to determine what they will allow hosted than for a protocol-level, top-down ban.
Node? What node? Nostr runs on relays, which are not, or should not, by definition, do anything other than... relaying.
That's why we have to use third party services such as voidcat and the like to attach images to notes -- because the relay doesn't host them.

Who did the Bluesky team remove?
Some user named stratus. I don’t know the back story. The replies are all celebrating this user’s removal. Maybe it was a very unlikable or hateful person. For people who need someone to keep them safe from words, this is a good approach. For people who want decentralized communication, this is atrocious.
I don’t get it. Don’t they have a mute option? They need to make a show out of being the keepers of the vibe. People who infantilize truly seek one thing: control. It starts because they are scared, then they get hooked on it like a drug. Of course broadcasting to everyone that they got their way matters, like a kid seeking a pat on the back.
There is a mute and block option. The response is very clique-ish. “We’re in charge around here” kind of vibe, whoever “we” is. That part I haven’t figured out yet.

I think they’re ok with being the new Twitter. The decentralization stuff isn’t that important and their users are reinforcing that.
