To be honest, I've been staying away from YouTube for a while now, because I listen to more podcasts, but for me YouTube has lost relevance.
Chill my cuz YouTube and these totalitarian empires need to be leached for resources when possible they represent free unlimited data storage.

If someone makes plug & play software that allows anyone to self-host from a consumer-level PC (nobody is realistically gonna setup a dedicated Linux machine), then I'm all in because I'd MUCH rather store my own content in a folder on a local machine & allow public read access, but there are still streaming speed/bandwidth issues to solve. 🫴
One could upload videos to their own web server, but that'd get expensive with increased bandwidth; one "viral' vid & you're bankrupt. And even if you do that, your website can still be shut down. 🙃
Until a PC/Mac download → install → config → drag & drop kind of solution exists, this will continue to be a problem (this applies to relays too). 🫠
YouTube solves more problems than people realize, so until someone replicates their decades of R&D, I'll keep all my videos unlisted & use them for free hosting. 🤙
I understood about 30% of that.
Doesn’t make me mad to hear that… but nostr hasn’t fully replaced much of anything yet…
