Lack of attention to detail is the red flag. We're talking money here, not some RPG.

If the quick guide is sloppy, (steps, labels, display order, etc do not match reality), then I can't trust that they're magically organized and sensible "under the hood" when it comes to code, updates, etc.

It's just FOSS things. You can edit the docs and submit a PR. You'd be fixing it for the next person.

So, the person which has virtually no experience with this tool should be leading documentation? Absurd.

Welcome to the real world with no VC funding for a QA guy - just passionate people pushing code and shipping in spite of the lack of resources. Stop bitching and start donating some of your mad skill to the project sir.

Meanwhile, instead of addressing my question, you take time out to complain to me.

I'm sorry you're hurt due to me not trusting software that you use. I was asking for a solution, then explained why.

OK too much snark I guess - apologizes - the answer is open source is messy.

Yes, exactly. Especially if you have prior dev experience.

This whole line of shit seems out of character. You mad? Somebody get your nsec? Need help with the app? I get your point, but bitching without a solution is a bad look.

I didn't ask for your solution. I have prior experience in software, but not this app.

And yeah, it's lame that I ask for alternatives due to a poor experience, and get a rash of zelots giving me grief over it instead.

Then, to get "you need to write the manual to learn how to use it" in addition is full retard, and missing the whole point.

Put a bounty on it, then, and stop being a welfare fuck.

And you're telling me your ass never heard of Electrum? Bullshit.

Also looking forward to your new release.

I had not heard of Electrum, and will be looking into it.

Also, you might want to ask yourself why you're so hurt by this discussion. It's not healthy.

No.

You kind of sound like someone who is about to release a new Bitcoin wallet lol...

Nope, just someone that's been in software development as a SQAE, and have seen things like this plenty of times before.

If Sparrow is the only option for decentralization, then we need new wallets.

Looking forward to your release

I understand why you're saying, but to be fair, lots of excellent, highly-competent developers are terrible at documentation and technical writing. In companies with enough money, the job of writing documentation is someone completely different from the people who actually developed the product. Point is, insufficient or poor documentation isn't automatically a sign of a poorly developed product.

First, there's a difference between poorly written docs and docs that have incorrect information.

However, let's look at the product. The menus are truncated, and there's a black line that appears when my mouse hovers over some controls that appears to be a malformed tool tip.

The UI of the product is reflecting the same lack of attention to detail as the documentation.

I agree, but I thought we were talking about documentation and technical writing. You seem to be talking about UX issues.

I'm talking about perception and trust.

That's why I asked for an alternative, (and not for zealots to attempt to convert me).

Well, Sparrow has a great reputation, and is trusted by quite a few people. But if you're looking for an alternative, Electrum may be worth a look. It's an on-chain and Lightning wallet that's as full-featured as they come. You can run a full Lightning node with it. I believe it supports hardware wallets, but I haven't personally used that functionality so I can't really comment on that. Electrum has been around since 2010 or 2011, and is relied on by many bitcoiners. It's at least worth a look.
