Can't see your NIP05 for a while as well (but it did show in the past)
Discussion
he took it off for a while but i can see it now, i assume heβs added it again
Huh not showing on Amethyst for me.
try force restarting?π€
Nah it's been like this for months. But i can confirm it works in browser. Will check.
I got rid of mine. I donβt think itβs the right answer for most people. For very public people with domains or brands, yes, it works.
can you elaborate on why its not the right answer for most people? is it the technical overhead?
Most people donβt own domains
Some people do.
i bought one mainly for the nip05 tbh and it only cost me about 10$, i bought it through my iphone settings app bc apple have an agreement with cloudflare, the annoying bit was trying to host the actual well-known/nostr.json but i just did it on github for free, i think more people that will use nip05 will be semi-famous so can pay someone to do it if they really struggle but i donβt think itβs that bad
That's right, but is there another option for identification outside of "the known" plattforms?
I think everyone who has to proof his existence has an own domain and on any other case there is no need for that, except the "proof of existence" by signing with my private key.
In other words: public persons who want to be identified as themselfs, won't have a problem with doing that and all others won't need that.
I like the ability to support people like #[6]β & #[7]β through nostr plebs. It also gets you verified on nostr nests.
And you get a relay, and some cool email features soon to come.
Correct. If people haven't bought their own domain name for their own email address by now, they're never going to buy domain name for a nostr address. However, just like email address providers, we will have and do have nostr address providers. That makes sense to me. I'm not just saying this because I run a service that provides them. It's a way to easily identify someone.
Yes you are. π The cost of a domain is nothing. Stop discouraging people to do that
β¦But people identify with communities and their community probably has a domainβ¦ So NIP-05 can signal community membership.
(Youβre above this kind of issue. But it works for βreal peopleβ).
I know this account is the real you but same as with Kennedy it would help with imposters etc, right? But of course do as you see fit π€
That being said, I'm still not sure if Saylors npub is real. Imagine owning hope dot com and not using it for nip 05.
buggy?
the assumption model does wacky things to people because they are placed in contexts which they are not really operating. people who assume others are running shadow campaigns or backend influence of candidates simply because of interaction is driven by the "information as profit" scheme of proof of stake. it's silly.
just because i interact with a politician doesn't preclude any support of influence - but that's all why i act in the open. there's no expectation my advice should be superior. it's freely given. those who operate as upload-only find this more difficult to navigate i believe, even if it's in the same sport. since there's no searchable proof.
regardless, myself and jack - as far as i know - only offer advisement. not paid influence or leverage. reciprocal only.
Doesn't identity correlate with trust, and sometimes you need trust to trust the content? I trust you because you have experience and knowledge; I would trust your content less if I weren't sure about your identity. Thoughts?
