My wife makes up a Christmas advent calendar for my daughter every year.

This year she put a lindor chocolate ball in every door.

Is it a big deal? I’m trying to teach my 13 yo daughter healthy habits and how to make better decisions for herself.

In my opinion starting your day for 25 days in a row with 80 calories of sugar and saturated fat *on top* of the normal treats of a day is a bad idea.

Should I put my foot down and replace the 25 lindor balls with something else or am I being a grinch?

Replace with raw liver or you hate Bitcoin

😂

Replace with it liquor. Not lindor.

Maybe add a “dare” in each one like “run around the block with dad” and it’ll offset it. Hahah

+1

pocket steak or beef jerky advent calendar needed

🤔 🤤

So beautiful that she makes the calendar 🥹I’d say leave it and just make sure she drinks water :)

They say it takes 21 days to create a habit 🙃

I think you're absolutely right.

And not only sugar, but there's fucking palm oil in that shit, which is arguably even worse.

Grinch. My kids all do it. It’s for one month of the year.

That’s what my wife says, but then she does pretty much the same thing for all the other “special occasions” and in the end it’s a non stop treat train all year long !

Ah, they're only kids once. They will learn what is good and what is bad, and learn to balance it. In our house, food is to be enjoyed and not to be stressed over. Everything in moderation. We have dessert after every meal. Sometimes it's ice cream. Sometimes, its yogurt with honey and fresh fruits. :)

Grinch. In the grand scheme of things it's fine. Do this everyday for a month? No big deal. Do this everyday for years? That's bad.

25 different varieties of meatballs

Deck the halls with balls 😂

Mmmm meatballs. 🤌🏻

I could throw fuel onto the fire and say that if the cocoa bean origin is not labeled, it's almost certainly from Ghana or Ivory Coast, and therefore almost certainly a product of child slavery and human trafficking.

Having said that, as a parent myself, a couple dozen chocolates a year isn't likely to do much long term harm, and the trade-off is if a bit of chocolate/treats are demonized too hard you can be certain when she has her own autonomy when she's older she may overdo them then. Parenting decisions are often not easy.

Of course, you could also compromise by having her eat it after dinner so the sugar spike is dulled by the other food in her belly... just my two cents.

You may be the grinch in this situation. Probably good to be on the same page as the wife. Maybe an understanding of the truth that this is not good for her, it’s mono-cropped gmo is insidious poison.

Pushed on and accepted by society eating marketing. Fun. How subconsciously coercive is it to eat this junk? Maybe this tough situation is a good example.

That calendar looks wonderful. Merry Christmas.

Yes - replace 24 of them

What's wrong w/saturated fat?

My sister in Germany puts little toys and keepsakes in each one of the doors/stockings for advent. It’s not necessary to use chocolates or candies as tiny gifts can be just as exciting but with better health results. 30 days can form a habit.

I have toys as well for her
