Some people post so much on here I’m forced to block them or unfollow them because my feed is basically 80% their posts.
Discussion
Yeah this is the only reason other than bots/scammers to block on Nostr.
Maybe you prefer old classic crappy & tricky twitter-meta based algorythms ?
Don’t cast your pearls before swine; Don’t waste something good on those who can’t appreciate it.
That's fair. Got to use it how you see fit. Not sure a block (or 'mute' since there's no blocking on Nostr) is necessary but an unfollow for sure.
I’ve been using Damus less than 24 hours and already had to do this. This is a good reason to include a feature to prioritize quality content over quantity.
Yes 💯
It's fun that way. Nostr is for everyone 😊

I feel attacked
Yes. Twitter was like this for me as a completionist before 3rd party apps were 86’d, that’s why I want ‘total posts’ /‘posts+replies’ counts some where so I can know if they’re too chatty to follow.
Got any outs?
😂
Maybe we need to follow more people? I’ve noticed this too but we don’t have an algo controlling suggested content, guessing numbers will be the best way to prevent this. I’m following as many people as I can that seem like a fellow pleb 👊🫡
An entire 52 people, how do you cope 🎻
Lol you get me. The key is to follow enough people and occasionally dip into global for breaks.
Checks Alex’s post.
Sees I have been unfollowed.
Sad violin music plays.
😭
Good Incentives
Add your LN addy here so I can zap yah! Also I followed you!
Follow more people is also a solution, big shot 😎
That's because you're dealing with a group of passionate people🤙
#[2] #[3] #[4] #[5] How soon is List coming?
A sat filter will fix this hopefully soon.
Not a problem unless you follow very few people.
to each their own 🤙
imho definitely far less “1) What”
behavior overall here…thankfully
so you followed the shower girl
Depending on the client, you might be seeing replies too. Amethyst has a nice follow view of just posts, not replies.
A tame option per follow would be a nice addition. Click it if you are seeing too many notes, and it would apply some rules to reduce the noise. This could be client side.
You are the algo here. That's expected 😉
2008 Twitter was people giving real time updates on what they were doing. Different vibe, same result on the feed.
Take a look at what Fraidycat browser extension does https://fraidyc.at/
one thing that would help with this is the ability to ignore keywords or ignore hashtags
And most of them have replied to you 😅. I've had the same problem, and following more people creates a new problem of too many posts to read.
I'm thinking of maybe having multiple feeds where the high-volume posters are in one feed and the low-volume posters in the other. Or group contacts by topic (news reporters, politics, developers, etc).
I’d like to have a filter that sorts based on length of post, if it’s a couple word post it’s probably just a regular reply to something.
In the same vein, I was thinking to add "toggle buttons" at the top of the feed, one for each follow. Each would have the name and in paranthesis the number of new posts. Buttons sorted by no. of new posts.
Un-selecting one would hide all new notes from that contact.
Because of the 80/20 rule, a few profiles will have most of the new replies. So un-selecting a couple of them would free up the view.
