I need a phycologist to tell my wife that washing dishes by hand every night after dinner and then putting them in the dishwasher is crazy and a massive waste of time. She won't listen to me.

She just thinks I'm being mean. I just want more time with her and the kids... And I don't want to waste so much water...

No sir... You fail to grasp. She washes them by hand and then runs them in the dishwasher after. Every. Night.

Well, this could be the old trick of doing things the hard way in order to get a moment of silence

Perhaps you wash them.

She won't let me. She wants to do it. I've offered to wash them hundreds of times.

All they need is a rinse, maybe there's compromise in there.

Have you ever think Dish washing is a therapy for her.

Her "therapy" is causing lost time with her family. That justifies a new coping mechanism.

Would it be okay if I started smoking again because it helps me feel better?

Try to explain your feelings to her and find a way to solve this if this issue hurts your family that much.

Your viewpoint sounds rational, but woman are generally irrational, so..

Anyway I believe communication is the key.

I've tried every way. That's why I need a professional. She's just stuck in her ways. She has to do things a certain way in a certain order. It's so unbelievably frustrating.

Then I think finding a professional specialized in family counselling would definitely help. 😉

Hope things will get better for you🙏🏿🫡

It's not world ending. Just a small issue that's just been ongoing for far too long now.

Buy paper plates. Maximum time with the family. No water wasted. lol

Yes. We do use paper plates from time to time and I love it. Also eating on the patio is good because no table cleanup afterwards.

Do you buy "quality" dishwasher pods?

We just have normal detergent. There's nothing wrong with the washer. She thinks it's just for sanitizing. There's no reason to run the washer if you hand wash them. There's no reason to hand wash if you dishwash unless there some particular grime stuck on which there isn't 99% o the time.

You can remove the "most" dirt with a paper or a fork.

If you don't, your dish washer filter will contain all dirt, and it will dirt a lot more your dishes next cycle.

I am not saying you have to clean them before, but remove all "big solid dirt" you see.

Or you will have to clean the filter more often...

perhaps it could be a half-solution-therapy 😀

Tha filter has been stinky a time or two. Just ask him - he's pressure washed the dishwasher parts before!

Hi everyone, I'm said wife. Many of you you are correct. Dishwasher doesn't clean 100%. Paper plates are great! He can wash dishes too. I enjoy the silence. I like routines, structure, etc. It's my routine and I don't mind it. We've been together for 10+ years. Our relationship isn't falling apart due to this. Just some thoughts from the male perspective. And yes women aren't always rational. ❤️

I’m tempted to remove the dishwasher to free up more real estate for kitchen gadgets. I don’t mind hand washing and kitchens never have enough storage.

My wife actually taught me that you’re not supposed to do this. I was raised to clean them first and then “sanitize” them. But, gotta say, she was right, it works!

bitties be crazy

Would she be open to doing a three day test?

1. Wash the dishes first.

2. Rinse the dishes first.

3. No rinse.

See which one comes out clean.

That's a great idea
