Yes, New Brunswick has implemented a temporary ban on recreational activities on Crown land (not blanket ban) due to extreme wildfire risk and unprecedented dry conditions. You can go hike, fish or walk in the woods outside of those areas, so no, it is not a crime to hike, fish or walk in the woods in New Brunswick. Only in certain areas and only while conditions are like they are.

Is all land crown land? No it is not. Can you hike outside it? Yes you can. So you can not simply write that they made it a crime without giving very important detail.

Funny thing about forest fires, they are started by lightning not cigarettes, and rhe reason they are so devastating is because the government prevents indigenous land management (controlled burns during the cool season reduce the fuel load and prevent larger fires during the hot season)
