Too many messenger concentrators too. Trillian was an example of that. Today most boomers are hopeless when it comes to messengers, if its not preinstalled its not going to happen. I know plenty X-rs that are the same way and they have no excuse. They're even worse, if it ain't apple, or some chinese crap to talk to their india and brazil team, theres no chance. They're of the attitude "if its more secure, that sounds scary. I dont want to look abnormal." These people live in places when if they don't edge the lawn including at the curb, the HOA sends them a fine. Apple tree? Would never dare such a violation. Its these dickholes that force us to keep using SMS, teams, cisco, wechat, fb mess, and fifteen others, none of which include signal, pgp, matrix, xmpp/omemo, etc. I'm afraid there is yet another politicial divide coming. One between self sovereign people, and the bleeting hordes.

The average WhatsApp user can’t imagine life without. What’s needed is an instant messaging app that has utility that users can send and get instant financial value regardless of their location for near free. Globally. That would not replace WhatsApp but could have a similar scale with it.
That's why I use Matrix to bridge them into one and use a matrix client of my choice on any device. FluffyChat is a good one.
Agreed and I really struggle to have people using signal they are all Meta addicts… 😔

Why can't we all just use email? the OG message protocol. We just need better email UI UX. I wonder if someone can make an app that has a one click local mail server spin up. Integrate with nostr.

email is bad and unencrypted and near impossible to setup if you want gmail to not drop your mails in the spam box automatically. Jabber is cool, Matrix is eh, i just use them all
