I fucked up my back snowboarding a few years ago and had stopped deadlifting entirely.

I recently got back into and can now pull 225 for reps. Still pretty weak honestly, but I’m excited about it.

Hell yea keep it up. I'm deadlifting rn, hoping to pull 365 for a single in the next 2 weeks or so.

That’s great! You’ll build back 💪🏻

💪

💪💪💪

Keep it up! Have you ever tried hanging from a pull-up bar for five minutes a day?

Yeah. My disc doesn’t bother me that much anymore, I’ve kind of learned how to deal with that.

That’s good. Increasing grip strength is the best way to increase deadlifts without stressing your back

I bet you can still kick deaters ass

Lolol

Hi!!! Never stop lifting! 💪

Some people are curing herniated disc with lifting even tho is a little contradictory. Look for that info and be happy my friend!

How did cure your back? And how did you progress to 225? I’m in a similar situation

Check out ATG and knees over toes guy, all the info you need is there.

Oh and wear a fucking weightlifting belt lol I never used to wear one, that was extremely stupid of me.

Why is it stupid not to wear a belt ?

From my own experience I noticed that maintaining proper form (ie correct exercise position) is easier with belt, especially with challenging weights — which means different things to different people and different moments.

ATG is as legit as it gets

I’ve checked it out, and I’m doing the exercises as well I can — I’m not very flexible

Just start small and build up. You have to think in terms of building up muscle to protect the injury rather than avoid the injury.

Back on the board, though?

Yeah for sure, but I don’t hit rails anymore lol

I've tweaked my back 3 times deadlifting. My family thinks I'm crazy for continuing to lift. But each tweak has come at a much heavier weight and has been less severe than the previous.

I got wrecked by an IED in Iraq and was told: I needed disc replacements, stop deadlifting, stop back squatting. I listened to that shit advice until I started reading Taleb.

Finally said fuck it bought a reverse hyper, began squatting and deadlifting. Beyond occasionally chiro visits, I’m fine. I can pull about 450, which ain’t spectacular, but for an old guy, ain’t terrible.

That’s great man

Same, took me a year, was a big day when I pulled 2-3 lbs more than the day of my injury...congrats, truly!

🏋️‍♂️🤝🏋️‍♂️

Recover from injuries is a part of life.

Never quit. Fight entropy.

Yeah but can you still shred?

I can

I grew up at Charleston and Brianhead

Spend a lot of time on the Gradually bit 🤝💪

225kilograms or pounds?

Reps or a single?

12 reps

I could beat you up
