I know it’s got its faults, but Bluesky is a lot closer to this reality than nostr is.

I'm patient

how so?

Custom algorithmic feeds are everywhere and universal across all of the clients, there are multiple third party apps to build and launch your own, and it’s just a matter of time before someone starts integrating AI into the process.

what did you do to create your custom feeds?

Third party services have popped up to create them easily, then it’s linked to your account and can optionally be made public for anyone to use.

Some examples:

skyfeed.app

blueskyfeedcreator.com

graze.social

their docs show this is just publishing a feed to their API:

https://github.com/bluesky-social/feed-generator/blob/main/scripts/publishFeedGen.ts

i forgot this is a decentralized in name only protocol

I could run my own PDS and it would publish to my server. Many do, but the Bluesky server is still the largest by far.

Decentralization is unquestionably something nostr has a strong lead on, but Bluesky is crawling in the right direction.

agreed

you definitely have no idea of how bluesky works

Inform me, then, instead of just an effortless troll?

sorry, you can publish to your PDS but that is irrelevant as all the data has to go through their big server that aggregates everything and then to another server that creates the bsky feed

For now. Like I said, decentralization is not a current strength, but it’s at least an end goal.

Regardless, my only purpose for posting any of my comments in this thread is to help improve nostr with friendly competition and good ideas from other new platforms, not besmirch it.

I would like to know where you got that information that they intend to change their architecture, I dont think they do

I dont disagree with your take on the custom feeds on bluesky, but I also think the way they did it only works in centralized systems

nostr has to either come up with a different implementation or give up decentralization and embrace primal

They are and have open sourced everything. Why wouldn’t there eventually be other options and alternate firehoses? Pretty sure that’s what the northsky project is already working on setting up.

if anyone did, which I doubt will ever happen, that would be a totally new standalone social network with zero network effect, so what is the point?

Slow and steady wins the race. I'll take decentralized, and this takes time.

No argument there. While it’s taking baby steps in that direction, Bluesky still has a ways to go in decentralization.

I am converting this mcp tool into first class support in damus clients. So it will be able to use local/remote search to find posts and build a feed 🙂. Can use any ai backend

This is for search, but might also be cool to give it the past day of your feed for the context window and say “show me interesting posts in the past day given some criteria “. Having it natively integrated is going to be slick.

that is a way to program yourself with internet media

Plus:

Adapt what you show me to my current mood.

Cause, humans and wants are changeable.

I need the feed only for when I'm in the mood to angry up the blood.
