This is objectively true, and yet some find it controversial. Or maybe they just feel called out.

How did the early internet start? On notice boards and people just connecting. Not economic value.

IMO - Nostr will grow as the useful apps/tools on it grow.

You know how sometimes you can be right but at the same time you don’t like the way someone handles being right?

—I think thats what’s going on here.

I’ll also say I default zap anyone and everything I bother to “like” just to boost engagement and let people know they’re seen.

So it looks like we’re on the same page…

*HOWEVER*

I think people are taking your position as “begging for sats” and it’s putting some people off.

Personally I just like your posts regardless but who the fuck am I. Haha

Their propensity to be easily butthurt on the internet is not my problem. 😂

says the guy who gets offended when he gets money but its not ENOUGH money.

💯

This is the kind of constructive discussion we need here.

Reposts are where its at 💪

Good weighting generally by @primal. But a reply 2x the points than a Zap?

Proof of work. A reply is more work. Thats the thinking anyway.

Ah ok. Understand

Just changed my default zap to -1. How the turns have tabled.

Taking out the middleman and advertising makes it incumbent upon the consumer of content to donate some value for the time the creator took

It’s so easy.

Agreed. It just takes a relearning process. People have grown so accustomed, over generations, to being the product themselves. For decades content has been shown for “free” in exchange for curated advertising, registered accounts with personal info, or structured timing of broadcasting. We have been the controlled content.

The patronage model is both ages old, and brand new. We are the street performers and traveling minstrels of old. Once people truly understand that they have been entertained/informed/inspired/etc without having exchanged something of themselves already, they will want to throw a few coins into the hat.

Haha interesting take. I like the idea of being an online minstrel or vaudeville performer for sats! 😂

no one owes u or anyone anything brother

Truth is truth, some will feel challenged, but stacking sats doesn’t care about opinions .

another way would also perhaps be to show users of YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Reddit that in 'nostr' it is not so easy to silence someone, because many are not yet interested in using bitcoin and what they want more now is a place where they can say and publish something and be sure that they will not be able to censor what they say.
