I’m all for trying different supplements, yet no matter how many positive things I read about it, I can’t bring myself to try methylene blue.
Am I missing out?

I use it here and there, when I feel like my body needs a boost. It has helped me resolve colds and things like that a lot quicker. Definitely not a daily or weekly thing for me though.
I wonder how it compares to taking more vitamin C, zinc and magnesium, and sleeping better.
From a biological standpoint, it’s quite different. Particularly in the mitochondria. MB can reroute electrons in the mitochondrial electron transfer chain directly from NADH to cytochrome c, increasing the activity of complex IV and effectively promoting mitochondrial activity while mitigating oxidative stress.
Why would you supplement food with something used to create dye and medication? There is other ways to adjust your iron levels.
Cons of Methylthioninium Chloride as synthetic Supplement
* Dose Sensitivity – Benefits are seen at low doses, while high doses can be neurotoxic and oxidative.
* Serotonin Syndrome Risk – Can interact with SSRIs, MAOIs, and other serotonergic drugs, potentially causing dangerous serotonin syndrome.
* Urine & Skin Discoloration – Turns urine blue/green and can stain skin, making it noticeable in some users.
* Potential Toxicity at High Doses – Excessive use can lead to oxidative stress, hemolysis (especially in people with G6PD deficiency), and other toxic effects.
* Limited Human Studies for Cognitive Enhancement – While promising, most cognitive benefits are based on animal studies and limited human trials.
* Contraindications for Certain Medical Conditions – Not recommended for people with G6PD deficiency, severe kidney issues, or those taking certain medications.
*Gastrointestinal Issues – Some users report nausea, stomach discomfort, or diarrhea.
* May Affect Blood Pressure – Can cause mild vasoconstriction, which may impact blood pressure regulation in sensitive individuals.
None of those cons would deter me from trying it, tbh. I think in my case I just don’t see the need for it.
But I’ve been reading about its benefits as an immunity booster and anti-cancer properties, so just wanted to hear others’ opinions.
What would be its benefit?
From what I read, it can help with mental focus and boost your immunity.
I’m just a very curious person when it comes to health-related topics 😊

I saw no noticeable effects from taking it other than the colour of my urine.
