I think it’s possible you’re jumping the gun here but sure hope you’re right
Nostr is on that level. We are participating on something that's as big as Bitcoin or the internet itself.

I missed or arrived late on all previous contacts..! But I am early on #Nostr
Really? Hm. I think the whole web3 idea needs to be realized before that. IE: everyone running their own nodes and servers... with wayfinding services to connect us.
Nostr IMO is the first step in that direction.
Yes, it should be at that level...
If you have wife you should probably add her on there cos it is Valentine's day and all. Just saying!!😀😀

Is this your "first contact"? My first contact with a PC was in 1982 with a Commodore 64. Bought my first IBM PC in 1984 for around $2,000.
100% agree
Why don't you just tell Lightning to go fuck itself
how about:
2023 bitcoin becomes a jpg spam ...
I agree 💯. I mean the amount of immediate buzz and rapid collaboration around this protocol has the same feeling as those other tech landmarks. I think it's the start of using public/private encrypted key pairs in a decentralized platform other than creating a new shitcoin platform to go with it.
Your message is resonating with a lot of people.

I wish but how scaling will happen is still quite unclear to me
People thought the same about BitTorrent, but the regime crushed it with IP law expansions. NOSTR seems less easy to wreck, thankfully.
Quite compact, but more granual "me"
1984 computer
1986 computer online (modem/bbs)
1992 Internet (persistent connection)
1994 www-server (OS/2 Warp and Connect)
1996 video meetings online (ISDN/ATM)
1999 100/100Mbps home broadband
2004 Linux / Virtualized Servers
2009 Cloud and distributed servers
2014 WebRTC
2016 The Bitcoin
2019 Lightning Network
2022 nostr
For me:
1982 Personal Computer
1985 BitNet, FidoNet
1990 Internet
2013 Bitcoin
In my case, the first contact was at the end of October, which was a time with a lot of censorship in Brazil.
I just joined here because of your tweet!
While I like that there is potential here, and I love that the early adopters (us) seem to all be on the same page when it comes to BTC, lots of people are FUDing this platform as it remains to be seen how things develop. What functionality do you envision that sets it apart or that will draw mass-adoption?
Clients can be implemented at wish and have full access to the entire userbase, which makes it way more convinient for new devs.
Instead of growing a userbase from scratch.
Also censorship resistance
I recognize that when a new Nostr client emerges, once a follower signs up, they remain following the same people they chose to follow on the protocol with the new application - that’s very nice, so you don’t need to “rebuild” your following from scratch, it comes with you from client to client.
Not just followers, but the entire userbase is available for the new client.
If you build a new social media platform app like Facebook you need to attract new users first which is a hard and costy task.
With Nostr as a protocol only the client needs to be implemented and everyone can switch and test the new client
Yes, in theory, it would mean that 1 private key unlocks many different clients and services, as long as people abandon their censorship hellholes and migrate to adopt Nostr.
1st Amendment + the ability to transact in immutable funds, enshrined in impenetrable code
Great to see you here, Jimmy!

Bold statement but after delving into it for a few hours today I am thinking you are correct. Nostr is 🔥.
It IS at that level and above.
But Bitcoin has a link to nostr. The 2 belongs to each other.
Last year I started my LN node. This year I started my nostr node.
I’m excited to see what is to come 🤩⚡️⚡️
That’s a big statement Jimmy.
