On a personal level I feel my "build" posts do best. Proof of work stuff. Woodworking, welding, etc
Its not a formal analysis, just observations on my own notes:
1. Short, authentic, relatable stories
2. Pretty pictures of places/doing stuff/memes
3. Any contribution that took actual effort 😅
I mingle amongst a fairly small group, so I doubt that would scale to what you probably mean. Hot takes & pix of hot chics are likely king, followed by touching stories and legitimate news. (Hopefully client updates are up there, too)
I do think it's indicative of how one could be lucrative by representing a specific thing (well and socially) to a relatively small audience though. The quality of engagement I receive is wildly high comparatively, when considering estimated follower counts & percentages, against profiles with huge followings, and I don't even have a "thing".
I'd be reluctant to trust a formal analysis right now, since there's a lot of wanting for the magic success story to happen.

In my experience real , human, authentic stuff gets zapped. Real insight. Human, relatable stories. Authentic content that hits in the heart.
Interestingly enough porn and memes do not get zapped usually, unless the memes are incredibly funny or high effort.
I have a whole thesis around this and even gave a presentation once, but I didn't find the time yet to rerecord it & write it down properly.
The reason why it's interesting is that stuff that works on most other platforms—stuff that harvests your eyeballs and/or brain cycles—doesn't do well on nostr, especially in terms of zaps.
I was surprised that really sad stuff gets zaps too, which is weird, but fitting when viewed from a real/human lens.
I love zapping people when I steal their memes.
I mentioned a long time ago that there should be a setting that automatically zaps someone a set amount when I save a meme. I do that manually now. 21 sats or more and your meme is my meme.
It should also increase each time you save a meme from the same person.

i believe this is true, too. this puts the value in value for value.
I got zapped for a picture of a golden butt plug with an emerald jewl yesterday. Pretty sure you'll catch a zap for that every time.
