since having kids I've apparently been clenching my top and bottom front teeth so hard that my bottom teeth are wiggly enough to be classified as having "mobility +1" that's so cool for me I love it

Been there. A wonderful yoga teacher of mine helped me learn to pay attention to the placement of the tongue in the mouth. Now I instinctively watch for when it's pressed to the roof of my mouth, and I relax it.
Thatโs great! One question, isnโt keeping your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth one of the cornerstones of mewing? I thought it was good?
What's mewing? ๐
I only know that it's typically a sign of held tension/stress.
Also a mouth guard at night does wonders.
Totally agree. My problem is I am actively clenching my teeth at high stress moments during the day ๐
Ugh! Sorry to hear that.
Oof, always one of those things to work on -- my dentist loves pointing out "dimples" on the tips of my teeth.
Been looking more into "tongue posture" (and something called "thumb pulling" -- internet rabbit holes lead to weird places). The practice of being focused more on pressing one's tongue into the palate does seem to help direct that tension into the tongue muscle rather than the jaw, hopefully to result in a less destructive use of the stress.
That said...actually finding ways to relax is always vital too.
