Something fascinating I've begun to notice on #Nostr is that good content that is old, shows back up more often than on Twitter.

Twitter does so much to suppress anything that isn't new to incentivize the addictiveness and feeling that without it you don't know what's going on, that I hadn't even thought about it until i realized i was seeing older posts that were just still slowly circulating even after months. I wonder if this will have a meaningful impact in some way about how we interact with it? 🤔

I have noticed that too. Seeing a repost of a note from 3mos ago is pretty cool.

Turns out when people decide what’s seen, it changes everything.

we should have stopped all software at 2008

Related, did you see this?

damnit Pablo when are we doing our show? Did we schedule anything yet? 🤣

I don’t think so 😂

Nostr is more organic and feels good to send and receive zaps. But twitter still has bigger reach. That’s the main reason I still use it.

We don't need algorithms.

We don't need a Craig Wright of Nostr

We don’t *need* algorithms, but I’m excited for some relays to attempt to introduce new content. It would be great to be introduced to new people and ideas, and if it doesn’t work out I can just remove those relays. Market forces at work!

We sure do. We need a lot of them. Lots of choices.

Twitter has cut 'old' now so hard that my feed just keeps repeating the last few days.

Because there is no content!

😂 I think you just need to follow more people. But I lol’d

You’re following 18 people

This is the power of the social graph

The impact is that there are fewer organic bots, NPCs, and propaganda repeaters. Society tries to combat the gpt bots assault while creating human bots.

Fingers crossed Twitter goes to zero.

If true, this should encourage more "evergreen" content and less click-bait.

I hope this is right. It would be nice to not have so many repetitive posts. I'd rather fewer higher quality posts circulate for longer periods.

I find nostr to be almost as addictive as twitter.

But you are right imo, the better we get with the ranking systems for content and keys, the more focused and concise you can keep your interactions with nostr!

I hope someone implements scoring from 0-100🙏

literally refreshing

100% the good things will come to the top, not the "agenda" that is promoted, as long as hard core nostriches with good intentions manage the relays, or we just self manage.

Its truly a beautiful thing!

It could be still better if notes could be tagged by a Time to Live, Language and Importance.

I never liked that emphasis on newness on Twitter. What? I keep discovering that I barely understood some category theory from the 1960s or the importance of Neoplatonism!

It will probably fuel more value for value payoff for creators.

like with most social media - people focus on how many followers they have rather than the quality of information they themselves follow. the irony of accounts with large followers: their feed is usually minimal and limited to a handful of accounts. how boring and what sort of design and dev does that give those who rely on them for information. limitations and restriction is much more of a mindset than people are willing to admit -
