WTF happened to simple shit that just works?

Down the fiat toilet
I used a stapler this morning and it worked great.
THAT's what I'm talking about.
Old school tech for the win.
A fucking dryer is LITERALLY just a heating element and a fan, in a bucket that tumbles clothes. Like holy shit how in god's name did they manage to fuck that up?
Literally have you ever taken the back off of an old dryer? Couldn't be simpler. It's like 4 pieces.
Guy bringing the heat.
#DryerRage 🔥
I'm going to need to buy a new dryer soon, and I'm dreading it.
BUT NOW WE HAVE THE INTERNET OF THINGS!!! I really, really need a chinese microship in my water bottle which attaches to the catheter in my dick that gives me feedback on my hydration!
Clothes line FTW
Speed Queen! Not as good as the old stuff, but not as bad as the new stuff.
Have you seen Rev.hodl's dryer? He uses a bitcoin miner as the heat source.
Damn that sounds ripe for disruption. I wonder if OpenSats will fund me to put a miner in one.
If you find out share with us Nostr folk
We got consultants. Oooo and then the opinions of the masses, the so called google 5 min research experts

Decentralization.
It's antithetical to planned obsolescence.
the more things you add, the more marketing campaigns you can run and the more hype you can create

If got replaced by systemd and the world became a much worse place.
Fiat broke that.
Which is another way of saying:
Bitcoin fixes this.
It was always a lie. The ease was just lulling you into giving away your data. Now even your refrigerator has an agenda...
Now I need an app for my vacuum cleaner. Like WTF.
NSA CIA FBI backdoors and inflation destroying quality of materials and builds
Nostr, Fountain, and Fold happened.
I've had issues and/or complaints about all 3. Bitcoin works, and lightning works, but the ancillary tech being built in this space has been wonky at best.
When you live in "this" space, everything is going to seem to not work. What does work is the centralized services offered by the likes of Google, Apple, etc... This isn't a judgment call in either direction; it's simply a statement of fact.
Yeah i wasn't talking about software, I meant like washing machines and shit. Normal stuff that used to just do the job and shut up about it.
The thing is that creating the back-end of simple shit that just works is really difficult and takes a lot of work and ettort. Fiat incentivizes cheap, quick and easy solutions. Bitcoin fixes this with #POW
I wasn't even meaning applications or software, I was meaning truly simple fucking tools and devices that used to be common like washing machines, dryers, cars, etc. A dryer is the dumbest machine in the world, and they've made it into the most pointlessly complicated bullshit that could even be conceptualized. And a basic option literally *doesn't even exist anymore.*
Its like they outlawed common sense.
Had our broken dryer looked at by an 80-something Vietnamese bloke who used to build them in a factory, not worth replacing the heating element. His advice was to buy the cheapest one with no electronics just physical controls, and “never buy a washer/dryer”. He said that like 5 times and was quite adamant about it, garbage products apparently that break all the time.
Half of the comments think I'm talking about apps, and the other half understand what I'm really talking about because they've had to buy a washing machine post 2015.
That said, I do also despise the "subscription everything" bullshit. Ran into that today. I'm just about sick of paying for ridiculous subscriptions just to use an app one fucking time. Or having to sign up and remember to cancel when I'm done, which inevitably means they take two months of pay from me before it registers that i forgot to go back and cancel it.

It can't just work... otherwise you'll never buy another one

"Simple shit that just works" is lindy and is also our reason for being as a company.
zebra pens, still simple, still beautiful
It got built back better?😉
i would like to pay more for things made out of metal instead of plastic which breaks after a month. fiat world
simple shit is hard ...
it got complicated and stopped working
