I give you right. But it depends how much btc you have, how old you are and what's your present income situation. If somebody has no income any more in Fiat and also not in bitcoin, you become very tight and reluctant spending at all.

Exactly! Been here 3 years and every time I meet long time bitcoiners at events here (and around the world) that don't use LN I'm very saddened. Some very famous names included.
It's weird, I pay my bills in LN even but somehow the 'nobody uses it' meme lives on.
(P.S. I don't call myself a maximalist and most of the people I'm referring to wouldn't either, but that's beside the point.)

Lightning is a rabbit hole, I started about 4 years ago on a Raspberry Pi with a just couple channels and got hooked. Now running on a full bare metal server and it became a full time jobā”ļø
i use lighting multiple times a week and iām more likely to use a service if it accepts lighting. iām just a lazy customer and lightning is the most convenient way to pay.
Don't you like paying by card? You only need to provide your legal name and address, write 16 numbers, a date and 3 digits, while also needing to approve the payment from your phone. Oh and if you use a vpn, the 2fa page might not work and you need to restart the process.
That's way better than scanning a QR code and tapping pay. /s

I can understand they don't want to sell any coin. But why not take part of their travel budget, go to an Bitcoin ATM, and load their lightning wallet to pay for things while they are there.

I am a bitcoiner. Though I don't travel to El Salvador. I think lightening is a bad solution and an unnecessary admission that Bitcoin doesn't scale.
