Noticed this for a few months already. If I go on global I see way more notes from my follows that I simply never see on my follow feed.
Same! I was afraid to ask or mention because I'm such a noob and thought there may be an obvious answer that I was overlooking.
I use Amethyst on Android. Based on bits I've gathered over the past couple of months, I have a feeling that I use too many relays.
Also I still haven't made an effort to read the documentation to understand the relay page, and the various possible settings for individual relays (all the little icons). I just have everything turned on and feel like I've somehow shot myself in the foot 😂
So… for a while now— I see notes people posted for about a four hour range. Then — all I see is nostr:npub1qqqqqqyz0la2jjl752yv8h7wgs3v098mh9nztd4nr6gynaef6uqqt0n47m notes that he posted for days. This has happened even after I deleted & uploaded app again.
on Damus. Not complaining— just something I noticed for about a week — I think. It’s like my main feed resorts after a while to nostr:npub1qqqqqqyz0la2jjl752yv8h7wgs3v098mh9nztd4nr6gynaef6uqqt0n47m profile page.
wow— it’s magically fixed all of a sudden. I did notice this for days though.

I've noticed that too & I keep a fairly small follow list. In my case, it seems to be dependent in what connection I am currently using. There are accts who's notes I cannot see unless I am at a particular location, despite shared relays. I suppose waiting long enough might provide time to find & fetch but at some point that just becomes unrealistic.

what factors can cause that ?
last time had similar situation investigated to find relay mismatch / not frequent post by one npub
example was inactive for 100days
also notes gets replicated between relays also
coracle + primal special options and relay multiplexer - aggregators which also acts as relay proxy
You shouldn't need to share relays.
Assuming their client published a nip65 relay list to one common/popular relay from where your client can get it, your client should be able to get their posts from one of their outbox (write) relays.
