People have to take responsibility. Blaming the lack of buyers for the lack of Bitcoin spending is, frankly, stupid.

The problem here is not the lack of buyers it's the lack of sellers. Quality sellers. Gresham law is real and People have no incentives beyond idealism to spend their bitcoins for a mug they can buy at Walmart.

Bitcoin will first make it's way in the market of excellence. Bitcoin is exceptional and will first want to aquire the exceptional. If you want to grow the circular economy you must take your responsibility and learn to offer an exceptional product.

It's going to be hard tho I'm telling. This myth where you can just start selling stuff for bitcoin and people will line up to encourage you is... yeah a myth. Trust me after 2 years I know. You are gonna have to be excellent for real. There's no shortcut.

But that's Bitcoin and I believe the rewards will be just as great as the challenge was in a decade or two.

Take on a Bitcoin craft, lower your time preference, learn to be excellent and stop blaming the buyers. Just get good until you create the buyers.

The craftmans will benefit first and hard. I'm obviously bias but there's a reason I took this path. I put my work where my words are.

I want to understand where the seemingly arbitrary time frames come from.

"It's been 15 years. We should have completely fixed everything by now..."

Who says 15 years is long enough? I just don't get why right now is the time that certain things should be reality. The current rails predate many humans on the planet. Fiat predates all of us. Gold predates some civilizations as a money.

YouTube predates Bitcoin. Lol I remember YT not existing and I'm only 31. Most people didn't carry cell phones when I was a child. But yes, we should have already completely fixed money and broken governments with Bitcoin. In 15 years. What we have right now is astonishing for such a short period.

Yeah 15 years is nothing. What has already been accomplished is amazing.

People tend to be limited by their own frame of reference. Bitcoin has been around for about half my life, which seems like a long time to me (kind of, time is flying). But 15 years to all of history or even a century is a lot smaller.

Couldn’t agree more

People born at the same time as Bitcoin are just starting to drive cars. I think we're fine.

It’s more of think we should be farther along than we are. With the internet, phones and the wealth of information about inflation you would think people would make the ration choice and choose a better money. I’m more astonished than anything…

I just don't see how you can look at where we started and where we are and not be amazed how much progress has been made in 15 years. It's also unfair because a lot of the 15 years was spent actually building the technology to make the network usable. I'm absolutely shocked at how much better things are now vs when I bought into the Bitcoin philosophy four years ago.

All of this without a centralized authority guiding development is truly amazing. We are farther ahead than I expected. By years.

I guess I’m just impatient lol… so tired of this fiat fucked up world. Fake money is ruining everything and getting people killed.

We agree on that. But I think it's important to consider how many people would suffer and die without a smooth, consistent rate of adoption. Just nuking the current system would probably lead to more harm than good. People need time to adapt. And I think they are.

In my 20s, I would have agreed with going in guns blazing and nuking anything that even looks like it's fiat lol. In my 30s, I'm a little more cautious and thoughtful. I think Bitcoin is too in many ways. It's still maturing with us.

Can I get some boosts on that or do I need to pay a million sats to have the Oh privilege to be boosted by an influencer?

I'd like to encourage more people to take on a Bitcoin craft and be serious about it.

We few want Bitcoin. The vast majority of people want dollars. There won’t be a Bitcoin circular economy for a long, long time, because US Dollar stablecoins will facilitate the existing circular economy.

There won't be one for a long time because we have to build it and that requires a lot of time and work. Most people don't want to put that much work in.

Glad it’s the quality handmade products that are getting the spotlight first, not the big companies trying to produce as much cheap stuff as possible to oversaturate the market.

This is a solid take. Thanks for sharing ⚡️🤙🏻

Please share it :)

Will do. That said, I don’t share things on my npub for a reward -I share because there is value to be shared.

Please don’t add me to the give-away list. 🔥🫡

For Bitcoins to circulate in the economy you need the money to become worthless.

For goods & services that only accept Bitcoins you need to pay Bitcoins.

Nostr helps with this.

I'm going to try to start my Big idea. It will need to be excellent and it will help create the circular economy. No one seems to have modeled what consumption and trade looks like when money is programmable digital and decentralized. I'm going to have to build it aren't I... Ok... Here we go.

I agree to some degree however if someone busts their ass and puts out an amazing product and no one wants to spend sats for it because they’ve been told Bitcoin is primarily a store of value and number go up forever— then that bright new merchant will fade out pretty quickly. Lots of good businesses have accepted BTC for a time but then when no one was buying they either stopped accepting Bitcoin or moved on completely. It’s a double edged sword.

Producers of quality products *should* accept Bitcoin, but conversely bitcoiners must *demand* to spend Bitcoin for quality products. Currently that’s not really the case. Once that happens, the market will open up and then producers with the absolute top of the line products will suddenly be competing for people to buy their products with Bitcoin.

But until people *demand* to spend sats, there is simply no incentive for most to put in the proof of work required.

We still struggle with the problem of taxable events.

It doesn’t seem that people think about this enough.

Or maybe I don’t see it correctly.

Counterpoint: People think about that way too much.

You don’t need anyone’s permission to spend Bitcoin, accept Bitcoin, or trade products on nostr for Bitcoin.

The only struggle is in forgetting that Bitcoin is 100% p2p and thinking you have to worry about taxes whenever you buy a coffee or zap someone for something they did, or something they produce.

P.S. just zapped you for your input, and I won’t be paying taxes on it. 😆

This.

Good take.

It's a legacy conditioning from the epoch when majority of bitcoiners were traders, and all media was against bitcoin.

I also buy things I need with bitcoin when possible, like high quality fish or meat at https://onlinevis.nl

This is the way.

There are no shortcuts.

If you're not getting paid in Bitcoin them you didn't offer enough value to make it worth it.

Zaps are the same. Provide the value and the zaps will follow.

I love this take.

Becoming a seller who accepts Bitcoin has been a huge hurdle. Although I’ve been selling milkweed seeds since 2013. It has taken me the past four years to integrate bitcoin payments into my site. Weather it’s my ignorance of tech or lack of perseverance. It was only with past winter that I got BTC Pay to work on my Wix site at www.growmilkweedplants.com Nobody has used the payment, yet. But with no spread on the kraken price quote. The day will come. I know this.

Well said. Create the buyers. I like that 👍🏼

I think you're spot on here.

I also think it's up to us as bitcoiners to do our part to get things rolling. I started accepting bitcoin at my business last year. Not much success, even with a good discount, but I'm not giving up. I wrote a post about it:

I'm sure there at least or two people in this thread of yours that run their own business and can do a similar thing as I've done.

“This myth where you can just start selling stuff for bitcoin and people will line up to encourage you is... yeah a myth. Trust me after 2 years I know. You are gonna have to be excellent for real. There's no shortcut.”

🔥🔥

Excellence is the bar for sats. As it should be.
