I wonder what it looks like if you weigh by holdings
such a good sign of the times if polling was done soundly
Correction: Bitcoiners in the US.
In Argentina bitcoiners are libertarians, anarchist and some right wing
We out here
Interesting how this contradicts my extensive IRL Bitcoin experience where everyone is right wing.
Contradicts mine where all of them are anti-state. This chart doesn't even have that option.
It’s a dumb chart, whichever way you slice it.
Outside of social media every single person I know that uses Bitcoin are full blown leftists.
Anarchists mostly, plenty of libertarians as well. But yeah the only right wingers interested in Bitcoin seem to be Americans.
This is literally unbelievable
As a "Bitcoin Policy Institute", this is kind of the exact outcome you would hope for such a study.
I'd like to know more how it was conducted. Did they ask 100 bitcoiners on bluesky, 100 on nostr and 100 at a libertarian convention or something?

This thread talks about a report with similar findings (might actually be the same report) that has more details about methods. https://x.com/thetrocro/status/1815491571032490175
No. Those are NOT bitcoiners. Are statists.
Why does the Bitcoin policy institute sound like a liberal organization? Like, they found all 35 of the liberal bitcoiners. 😂
Phew, glad they finally found me! Been around since the GPU mining days. Didn't realize I was such a rare bird. Guess that makes me one of the fabled 35 liberals they managed to track down. Hahaha!
Indeed very interesting. The study is from nostr:nprofile1qyjhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68yttjv4kxz7fwwfshwunpwpczuam0wf4k2unn9ejx2aspz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucmc9ekhxqpqn3sjlzmhpu8rl56umtptc4lua6zkretq2p82yhytnmlcuq639vlqcld47h and is based on a survey from last year. Too bad he didn't post it here on nostr as he did on Twitter:

Link to the survey:
Small print says this is from polling in the United States (only)
Getting really tired of US Americans representing themselves as the whole world (as the title at the top of the chart suggests, through omission)
More specifically, tired of US American bitcoiners pushing their insular politics onto Bitcoin
Ohhh that makes sense now.
Why they think that liberals and conservatives are the opposite ends of the political spectrum when they are essentially the same thing
It's the way it should be. Politics is like the polar opposite of what Bitcoin strives to achieve.
the people want the ☮️ money
25% liberal+ ??? 🤔 🧐
Bitcoin is for everyone
Testing for this note… we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, using your lightning address starting with "ericpp", over a period of about 7 hours. All six attempts were successful. Please check on your end to be sure you received. Average zap time was 7324ms (7.3 seconds). We consider this zap time slow... generally, zaps should complete in under two seconds. (Other Nostr users might think your zaps are broken, might not zap you again.) If you wanted to speed up your zap confirmations, you could try receiving zaps with a well-connected, cloud-based Lightning node.
Conservative side are definitely way more loud on social. Is this self identifying? Or did the survey place them on the spectrum according to views on issues.
The BTC Party , proof of work politics
Bitcoin is for enemies fr fr
It's the Tuvok meme irl:
"Are you two friends?"
"No!"
better would be to ask open-ended question and sort them into categories after
Interesting the skew of right and left. More radical left than right. They skew the opposite way as they trend to neutral
It’d be interesting to see a visualization on other political views diagram which isn’t just a left / right spectrum.
Interesting how 95% of the political spectrum is considered neutral.
We literally got anarchists, fascists, communists, every different group that calls themselves socialist or libertarian etc.
All considered neutral, while conservatism and liberalism which are just different variants of capitalism are somehow considered the two sides.
Neutral is a bit generic. Because that would represent having a foot in both camps. I 100% don't believe in absolutes, so 'individual' is better.
I don't fully understand how you can be politically interventionist (Very liberal/conservative) but still pro hard money.
Those people must've misunderstood that the state to which they like to grant enormous power can't work they way they like it without inflationary money and ever progressing poverty.
What about a no government option?
