Is there anyone out there interested at all in living off grid and homesteading? Please join me so we can help each other with ideas and knowledge. It isn’t easy, but we can make it easier by helping each other to solve our little ‘issues’ that we run into living this lifestyle ✌️

youre joining us.

Me and my fiancé plan to create our little retreat, community space in Poland in the years to come! Excited to see all the suggestions and experience sharing from you in the meantime!

Nice! My grandparents and mother came over after the war, they grew up on a tiny farms in Poland. During the war my grandparents were in separate nazi work camps in Austria. Found each other after the war and wound up in the USA

I’m leaning that direction. I am looking forward to seeing some of your suggestions on how to achieve this lifestyle!

Looks nice…

Lmk If you need any help with Radio comms, solar systems, water power plants or off grid hydroponics , I've dabbled a bit over the years. Most important thing I wish i knew back then was how best to use gravity for max efficiency 🤦🏼‍♂️Dig a big pond, with water life arrives.

Followed. Just setting up my land. LFG!

Nice! Post what you’re doing so we can follow the progress

Ya man. I shall try to post often 👊

Here for the off-grid party. 🎉

Im a part-timer, but have lots of experience in different setups - preferably on the cheeeappp.

Cheap is the only way 👍 if you’re going to make it

I love Maine so much - beautiful area! Glad to find ya here.

👍 Yessa!

Welcome to Nostr! Interested in following your journey, studied Permacumture in Thailand and volunteered all over the world helping organic homesteads… hoping to start my own soon down here in South America!

Wow sounds like you will thrive, just get’er going, don’t wait, life is too short!

Been establishing residency in Mexico & Paraguay these past couple of years + helping to build the bitcoin community down here… got a solid group of gents and hopefully we will have some land soon! Thanks for the encouragement!! 🙏🏼🫡 can’t wait to see more of your projects

Followed back because we need more of this 👍🏻🫂

Happy to find an account like this. This is the direction I’m looking to take my family in the next few years.

I started saving materials for my build a couple years before we bought land and started. Free and cheap seed materials are your friend 👍

I’m sure one of the most common questions you get is about cost. How does it compare to traditional homes?

Well, I don’t pay for water or sewer, electricity (I have a small solar system for the essentials), no mortgage (I built my cabin from used, free, and discounted materials), and my taxes are dirt cheap. I do still go to the laundromat and I do drive an hour to work but I wouldn’t trade any of this to go back. When retirement does come I won’t have to actually work like most people as long as I can set myself up for that. It’s a marathon not a sprint

Home Depot often has a ton of special order lumber etc. that people never pick up. Ask them offer some ridiculous price and a lot of times they will take it. Especially if the DM doesn’t s stopping by, they don’t want that stuff hanging around. It’s all just numbers to them. I’ve built have my cabin for next nothing doing this.

So woodsy. I just got invited to visit a friend who bought some land in Maine recently. Maybe we will cross paths if I visit.

Off-Grid living is one of the best methods for being able to #optout of the fiat system... welcome!

Yup, I’ve been doing it for about 7 years total. Still have to participate in some forms but not completely plugged in. I wouldn’t trade it for anything

Excellent... I've been hopping from various footprints over the past five years. Now I know what freedom is!

Awesome 😊🥰🥳

Welcome to Nostr! We started on raw land and are not completely offgrid now but the years that we were taught me a lot.

Glad to have you on here. We share good insights and ideas with each other.

Your place looks lovely!

I’d love to live off grid!! I’m always looking to learn more homesteading things as well! I’ll definitely be following along. ☺️

This is the way

One day I’ll be out there. I’m there in spirit

We have some acreage and have come to the conclusion that our goal is to learn how not to HAVE to depend on the system but as long as it’s available, use it.

Yup that’s it, kind of buys you some time to get things set up and hopefully eventually we get there

👋
