😬 not me completely forgetting that we stopped shaking hands. In my defense I am a hermit and the opportunity does not frequently arise

Content creators are just social media super-users. They put the media into social media. The ones that rise in the ranks in terms of audience and reach on different platforms has depended largely on the platforms themselves (until nostr).

Think about how the different platforms have “created” different kinds of influencers and how their audiences really don’t cross-pollinate very well unless they’re a pretty big celebrity. There are a ton of Instagram mommy bloggers who have zero following on TikTok. That’s because Mark Zuckerberg designed Instagram to boost posts with smiling faces, and TikTok doesn’t. So some of these influencer trends are manufactured by the platforms themselves for their own gain and that has created specific influencer cultures on each platform.

Here on Nostr creators are directly incentivized and don’t have to fit into some mold or say only the right things to be monetized for the media they create. The content creators that start building an audience here will naturally have a different, less competitive culture.

Beautifully said. nostr:note1fla6qvvsxwghvnr9yc6sk4h8c7hqu84jh4jzm80eguu4un3rygdqzactfv

Exactly. What I would say is more correct is secret, uncontrollable, and censorial algorithms are not desired but smart suggestions of relatable notes with settings and filters I could toggle are desired 😅 example if I could flip a switch and a fancy math problem (algorithm) would show me only notes that multiple people replied to with indications of laughter, and then I could flip it back when my humor quota was met, I would love that.

Def room for innovation. nostr:note13xeu7yahav4uhcyyc8y8zf6zl38jzq3atpkn7gm4473gfr0tqvcsut454m

Totally - people want to hang out in a virtual social setting that provides value to them, through learning, laughing and relating to others. We are putting the social back in social media.

One of the great questions I was asked by nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 over on #nostrnests was how do we bring more content creators and general users to #Nostr and in my humble opinion that is: cultivate our viral potential.

There are three ways I know to cultivate viral potential and one of them Nostr does well already and that is “timeliness” (seeing what’s current and trending). The second is shareability (ease of sharing outside the clients) and the third is searchability (being able to find the content you want - either through direct search or setting filters or smart suggestions). With those 3 things, content creators will start moving this direction and sharing out to the dinosaur platforms to bring their dedicated audience with them.

This is the future. 😁🤙

Great nostr:npub1us9uc0sjjg0vyvh7vefgu2a96hx5up5gujl6pqays65hlk4de6hsnwq4g0 tonight! I made a video hopefully showing how easy (under 5 minutes) signing up for nostr and receiving value can be.

I think the best solution is to innovate and cultivate tools and systems of trust. Ideas about “right to privacy” are interesting in a public forum.

I personally grew up the daughter of a preacher so we never really had a private life. I lived in the church (there was a built-on apartment) so our doors were open all day every day and everyone knew where to find us, bad actors included. So maybe I have a thicker skin than most when it comes to privacy anxiety?

Or maybe all those “it’s 10:00…do you know where your kids are?” commercials made it to where now Gen x doesn’t want anyone to know where they are ever? Idk lol super interesting topic though.

Gather round, children, and I will tell you a harrowing tale about a very dangerous doxxer called: THE PHONE BOOK. Back in the 80s the phone book would tell everyone your number and address, you know, so you could communicate with neighbors. Scary, I know.

Maybe this is why I don’t feel this kind of fear of #Nostr that is described here?

But I could see a need for “quarantining” certain notes that pose a direct threat to others. It’s interesting to consider how this work could be accomplished in a decentralized way.
