Yea Na, fuck you. You are better than this!
Yea, i wouldn't have put money on that, but here we are.
20K something publicly listening nodes, some 70K total
there seems to be a large number of cloud core nodes. most of the knots nodes appear to be running in residential ISPs, which makes sense. there's just not a lot of them compared to bitcoin cloud infra. I didn't realize there were so many cloud nodes but I guess that makes sense with all the services out there.
AS bucketing is really cool, it turns an ocean of IPs into something readable

So if you counted all AWS nodes as 1 node as amazon owns all that infrastructure, what does that do to your numbers?
I have this exact thought bouncing around in my brain, as such the just don't update line makes no sense to me. not to be a doomer but i don't see how this change doesn't destroy the p2p layer of bitcoin.
At what point does knots become the reference implementation? when mining pools are using it?
i think his script runs every 2 weeks
what are you talking about, iv'e got lightning and conjoin working fine with mine, has been for years, never heard of the other 2.
fixed it: "I completely agree. The technical and rational people are NOT the valid ones. It’s a meritocratic system. Money should not be ruled by the emotional whims of people who don’t understand the system they are trying to change. If we allow that then bitcoin is doomed.
If you want to make a change, then become a KNOTS contributor, learn how bitcoin works, run a node. Forking off into some alternate with an the *only* sensible maintainer is a way but not ideal."
Well we are about to put that saying to its biggest test in a decade.
hmm, complaining about a centralized platform on a decentralized one. lol, also your not going to find much love for Core round these parts. people round here have consensus that the dev's you mentioned are making a mistake.
It goes against everything I believe, but are we at the point where, we should band together and start our own pool?
You receive what you give. See last comment.
As once the garbage is in the park its never going away.
I see but then, should the conversation be about how to stop all garbage, instead of how to deal with it?
But Core is removing the garbage cans all together, Knots just want to keep them? am i wrong?
Bitcoin Core v30 ia released. Upgrade your node. https://video.nostr.build/50cc20b19c8a7cf72d863d67b55040bb60be9191a8ca9ee1d7cf3afd6b65d4ea.mp4

I don't want my node to host random dick picks, i want it to host bitcoin transactions, so i run knots, end of story.
seem pretty well thought out to me.
I think your premise is correct, but in the real world, running software that has the very real potential to kill the p2p layer of bitcoin. i think that is worth fighting over, don't you?
This is just not true, years ago sure but not anymore
Aww, used to think you were kinda cool until now.
