I'm from and live in California. I lived in Germany from 1998 - 2000 as a Mormon missionary. I love gardening and chickens. I became interested in bitcoin after the Canadian trucker protest.

New insights for teaching kids Trigonometry, might help some homeschooling champion parents...

Sin, Cos, and Tan is unnecessarily taught all together, causing confusion, and difficulty memorising.

It's made worse by teaching fractions of triangle sides, "Sine is opposite over hypotenuse", and then mnemonics are taught..SOH CAH TOA.

Ridiculous.

I had to undo a lot of this crap today teaching my daughter, and the new system was easier and she got it straight away...

To begin with, forget Tan. And forget side ratios initially.

1. For any right angle triangle, the two other angles, theta and alpha, add up to 90 deg.

2. Any two right-angle (RA) triangles with the same two other angles are similar triangles. If the hypotenuse is also the same SIZE, then they are identical triangles. (Explain this by discussing zooming in and out, triangle gets bigger and smaller, but it looks like the same triangle. And so these numbers define the "shape of shapes", but not always how big or zoomed in they are).

3. Always work with triangles where the hypotenuse is 1, to begin with. To eliminate complexity of absolute sizes, start with the "shape of the shapes".

4. Sine is the main one to know, and learn to "feel" that it's the most important - it helps memory. It refers to the size of the triangle-side furtherest from an angle (don't call it a ratio yet).

Animate the angle changing, and the side's size changing with it (and triangle shape). And of course it always remains a RA triangle.

On one extreme where the angle is approaching zero the triangle becomes acute, then almost just a straight line. The hypotenuse is to be considered like a clock hand, fixed in size of 1. As the angle is approaching zero, the sine-side (opposite) is approaching 0 in length, and the other side, the cos side (adjacent), is approaching the same length as the hypotenuse, 1. Show how both sides HAVE to change size, because you're not changing the size of the hypotenuse.

On the other extreme, when the angle is opening up towards 90°, the sine side is approaching 1 in length, and the cos (adjacent) side is approaching 0. Another straight line.

When the angle is 45 deg, the animation is exactly half way between the two extremes and both angles (theta and alpha) must equal 45 degrees (otherwise it's not a right angle triangle). And the 2 changing sides are equal in length.

Demonstrating this, I think, is much more important than memorising opposite over hypotenuse, adjacent over hypotenuse, and opposite over adjacent.

Then when you have a something like, sin(37 degrees), one can appreciate this DEFINES a triangle's shape.

Then, once they get that, you can explain the vale of sine(T) is actually a COMPARISON to the hypotenuse, which has always been 1 so far, and also is always the longest side of the RA triangle (so the value of a side has always been under one). Comparison means a ratio.

0.5 means half the size compared to the hypotenuse.

THEN, show...

sine (45) = A/H = 0.7

... as an example, and demonstrates how with bigger triangles (hypotenuse greater than 1), if the shape of the triangle is the same, defined by angle, then sin(T) stays the same, and always under 1, no matter the larger hypotenuse.

Once comfortable, draw sine waves and cos waves (careful not to become the whiteboard meme guy here).

Then when comfortable with that, show a clock and the triangles formed in the 4 quadrants.

Introduce radians.

Only THEN talk about Tan, opposite over hypotenuse, or sineT/cosT.

Just my 2 π

Would you consider explaining this in a video where the camera is focused on a piece of paper or a screen where you are showing while explaining? It’s been so long since I’ve taken trigonometry that I’m having trouble following this post, but if I you were talking and pointing to angles and drawing different sizes I could follow that better. You obviously put a lot into making this written post, would you consider explaining it in a video?

Yes it’s a messed up system. Have you read the book “The Creature from Jekyll Island”? It’s long but was fundamental for my understanding of the Federal Reserve and how the central banks created money from thin air.

Eating #carnivore, I’ve lost 90 lbs so far in 7 months. Here is a side by side comparison of April this year versus last year with an 80 lbs difference. #plebchain

Have you heard of Holistic Planned Grazing? In grasslands (a huge chunk of the world), enormous numbers of cattle are used to regenerate the ecosystem, reverse desertification and increase biodiversity. Holistic Management and cattle are the answer to save the planet. We literally need to increase the number of cattle a thousand fold! To learn more look at savory.org and watch Alan Savory’s TED talk.

I’ve lost 90 pounds in the last 7 months of #carnivore. One of my goals is to merely be overweight instead of morbidly obese. #plebchain

The layer 2 Lightning and Liquid networks have lightened the load from the base layer 1.

Bitcoin is teaching me to lower my time preference. #plebchain

I’ve lost 70 lbs in 5 months of (mostly) #carnivore. Today I weighed 314 lbs, down from 384 when I started in November. I started with a BMI of 50.7, and today a BMI of 41.7. I’m eating #OMAD (one meal a day), enough until I’m completely full and then a 23 hour fast. Here is a picture of my meal today. The asparagus is fresh picked from my #garden. #plebchain

I’m traveling for work. Fortunately my hotel room has a stove. I went and bought steak and butter to continue my #Carnivore diet. I’m currently 322, down from 384 in November. I feel good. I’m trying to lower my time preference. #plebchain

I’ve started #Carnivore in November. I was inspired by Saifedean Ammous and carnivore bitcoiners. I’ve been mostly consistent. I’ve gone from 384 lbs at Halloween to 327 lbs today. This was my breakfast this morning. Who would’ve thought an obese man could start losing weight by eating this? #plebchain Anybody else loosing weight with #Carnivore?

I should probably give you a little background on work. It might be a bit confusing hearing "rink days" and whatnot.

I'm a skating instructor/hockey/ goalie coach and off ice trainer by trade, I'm a private contractor in a sense. My job is extremely physically demanding and sometimes I sweat more than my skaters depending on what we do. Some days I pack in as many as 3 hockey bags of gear depending on what I have scheduled, no onsite storage for me.

I have tried to lighten my load as much as possible without sacrificing safety for my skates of myself. I unfortunately have had some mishaps switching to keto and continuing my workload.

My favorite incident was the rink dog stole a Ziploc of bacon and cheese from my bag, just enough of a gap in the zipper for her nose to get in was all it took 😂 and she looked adorably guilty too... She knew.

I was given some smoked meat (dude is full on carnivore) that day by her owner, and a parent brought me a heavy cream latte. Other times im not so lucky though, some days I skate harder than expected and consume everything hours before I get to leave. Those packets of crap have saved me a couple times in a pinch.

I had collapsed 2x on ice and had a bad episode of heat exhaustion and super dehydrated when I started keto. After the 3rd Incident I got the electrolyte powder and a pack of the beef sticks. My emergency pack also includes tea and some packets of powdered bone broth in a freezer bag. I also keep 2 packets of sugar for a couple of diabetic type 1 skaters of they crash (parents can administer those)

Okay so it wasn't a short back story...😳

If you have any suggestions for shelf stable options that can just live in my main work bag please let me know. This is all new territory for me.

Beef Jerky might be an option

How did you make those meatballs? Is that ground beef mixed with onions and a boiled egg inside? What is the crust on the outside? Is it deep fried in tallow?

What have you been doing for your carnivore diet? Have you noticed any changes positive or negative? Have you done a carnivore diet in the past? I’m eating carnivore for the first time. I started at the beginning of November, and have been strict carnivore about 80% of the days since then. I need to fully commit. I started at 384 lbs and today am 338. My sleep apnea went away and I’m sleeping and feeling much better.

Can anyone point me to beginner guides or tutorials or videos on how to use Nostr? I’m using Primal on IOS. #introductions #plebchain

An A Frame is a house that has a triangle shaped roof that makes the house kind of shaped like an “A”. The lights in this picture look like a Pink Floyd album cover.
