But how do you know that people are addicted to likes in the first place? It sounds like a hypthetical from the start.

Sure, experiments can be interesting.

But suppose we assume that some people out there are addicted to likes, then short comments of agreememt will just be the new form of likes.

Agreed, I've also had this thought more and more over the years. I even think better of certain kinds of real life criminals, at least when their only crime is breaking government rules without harming anyone else.

Fair enough. However, over time I can see recurring agreements from likes that helps me connect a name with certain positions. There is repetition that helps me making that connection.

I might not see all their comments in my flow and it saves me time to get a general impression in this format.

Many people don't write a lot of small talk and I'm generally in that category as well. If we remove likes then our feeds become full of short responses that have meaning for us but may be noise for others.

I disagree.

Likes are useful as general nods of agreement that help people connect with others they don't know well and don't see in person. Remove that and you slow down the process of building bridges with new people.

If I were to write small talk everywhere, then my feed would be filled with noise. Not all zaps are visible on notes.

Likes are not dopamine drugs for sovereigns, they are indicators of general, positive non-verbal interactions that informs us about who may hold similar viewpoints.

I agree in general and just stay away from corporate spectacles. In the late 1980'ies there was a jovial connection between BBS users and system operators and most users were just computer interested + RPG fans scheduling gaming weekends.

My impression of Myspace was that it collapsed due to bugs, I suspected sabotage at the time. I was mainly off social media for a decade until I started with bitcoin. Then when all the authoritarianism escalated it became more important to network and spread liberty ideas.

Sometimes I give new people the benefit of the doubt until they break the trust. Lists are an excellent filter that keep the feed algorithm-free. We have 100% responsibility for what we choose to have in our information flows.

πŸ’― The flexible approach is to have one neutral form of money (bitcoin), with a range of options for both cold and hot storage.

Those busying themselves with what kind of wallets other people use for 50,000 sats or less are not spending their time productively.

Awesome message Sandy, you are on a streak with sharing your wisdom. Have a great weekend!

πŸ™ Thank you for your tireless work.

Bad perspective.

Large non-transactional data is best stored on various bitcoin L2 hosting services. Having backups on several hosting services will be sufficient for redundancy. If one backup is lost, other backups will provide cover.

As an artist, I can't store a high resolution image of my art on bitcoin L1. Why? Because a 4k x 4k (or 6k x 6k) artwork in PNG format is absolutely huge in size.

Why does this matter? It matters because I can't publish high resolution proof-of-work with watermarks on bitcoin L1. As a result, it would be pointless to post my art on bitcoin L1 in any size. It's not the proper medium for that. Anyone can falsely post other people's art without high resolution proof-of-work.

Decentralization of art will involve multiple platform hostings, combined with hosting proof-of-work of the artwork process. There will be companies/groups dedicated to hosting art on bitcoin L2 with costs paid by user traffic and donations.

Cool stuff! I made some compositions in Cubase in the past but that was a long time ago. Which software do you use?

Zaps are a good indicator for the near future but over time they may be gamed, at least to a degree, by those who are determined to game them. Perhaps at some risk, but if there is enough incentive then technical obstacles can be overcome.

Once we have lists we are in charge over crafting our own algorithms. Nothing needs to be sorted by likes or zaps and such algorithms will typically re-inforce the initial publicity.

Algorithms will favor interests of advertisers over time since there will always be sly roundabout ways of introducing changes that can be monetized.

Personal lists based on preferences is the opt-out of algorithms. Quality content will generally be found and shared into lists.

πŸ’― Age is just the measure of our time being in the world.

In modern parlance, age is when old fuckers fuck around long enough to find out how things fucking work.
