The Puritans would conduct family worship morning and evening. In our household we have adopted their basic evening model of a scripture passage, prayer, and a hymn.
While our kids are young we keep the time focused and short but will leave a little time for discussion as it may arise. We have iterated as we have had more children and as they get older we will probably continue to iterate.
Every family should find a model of family worship that works for them. Every night isn't possible for some families. Sometimes simple bedtime prayer is all that is doable. Do what you can with what you have. But don't do nothing. It is the father's duty to lead his family in family worship. The Puritans would excommunicate fathers who willfully abdicated this responsibility.

I believe a proper reading is to see the dominion mandate as still in effect. The arc of Scripture gives testimony to this in various places, including in the New Testament when Christ gives the Great Commission. It is a further layer atop the original dominion mandate, mirroring and building upon the command to be fruitful and multiply.

As mentioned in it, there is a direct economic and domestic connection to dominion. Many words and concepts we use even today to describe aspects of domesticity have overlapping etymological roots with "dominion". Like the word "domestic" itself, and "domain".
