I am responsible for my backups. I kept backups of Alby Hub with more than 3 copies on multiple hard drives. Like any good experienced responsible system administrator would.

Yes, there is many people working hard to build open source software and make things better every day. I recognize that and always do my best to positively contribute with prompt bug reports straight to the developers. Which is why I immediately reported the issue to Alby Hub when I encountered it months ago.

Worked back and fourth with the Alby Hub team to fix it.

The customer support team was quite rude to me nearly the entire time. I was told I was too advanced of a user. Then when I complained about the rudeness publicly, I got a half assed back handed apology. I was given a link to a backup restoration tool which would not work in my specific circumstances. Up shits creek and given a broken paddle to fix my situation.

So again I say in full honesty. Rugged by a bug.

Then today after getting some more de ja vu from you with rude interactions by saying maybe I should use paypal. I am in the same boat I was a couple months ago, but now with an even bigger stick shoved up my ass. Appalled at how absolutely unprofessional Alby Hub team members are in regards to public relations by issuing insultingly poor support to their users. Instead of investigating and asking me more questions to resolve the longstanding issue.

From this point forward you could either zap me my lost 18,500 sats to redeem your company's public image by changing my mind on how you conduct your business in regards to professionalism. Alternatively I will justifiably talk shit about Alby Hub whenever I feel the need to, because of my shitty experience with your product. Fueled with a mighty fire stoked by the insulting customer support it continues provides to its users still to this day.

Tell that to my alby hub that I could not restore a backup of. Which crashed everytime right after I login. Once it was transferred to a new computer.

The issue for me has been finding the right lightning wallet which works for the Linux desktop without a high sats requirement.

I got rugged by an Alby Hub bug out of thousands of sats.

Got rugged by 2 cryptocurrency exchanges. Thank goodness they were all shitcoins.

Experimenting with Misty Breez for mobile. Which so far so good.

Cashu is just a new form of banking giving custody over a currency which was designed to replace the need for trusting other people with your money in the first place.

Self custody should be the only logical option for bitcoiners. I would not mind running my own cashu mint, but have no idea how to do that reliably, or safely.

The whole point is that your bitcoin in the custody of anyone else IS a shitty situation to be in.

I am seeing transactions in the alby go app (v 1.12.0). In the app I can see zaps and I can read their description/note.

My issue is in the nostr clients where I have no indication or notification I have been zapped on either amethyst or primal and no way to see who zapped or for what.

Does anyone have any advice for what relay I should connect to or what setting I should change so that I can see zaps and receive zap notifications in amethyst?

I can see the zaps coming in to alby but have no idea what note they were for or who zapped them.

I have the seed phrase of the wallet and I used another wallet to watch any activity. I always back up the information.

It's worked in a different set up that I did later.

We work hard on making it easy and preventing closures. but unilateral exit without relying on the other party also means that the LSPs can close channels for various reasons. it’s part of the security model of lightning. (still annoying and not understandable for users often)

So I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another couple halvings until Bitcoin is a widely used unit of account.
