I try not to get in comas, drink Bud light, or watch Tucker Carlson but this is funny and it really does speak to how quickly our world is changing.

7 reasons I have a grudge against big social.
1. Lock in. They lock you into their platform.
2. Their software is always at least partially broken. It is difficult to tell if it is intentional or incidental. I feel both are strongly in play.
3. Agenda driven censorship.
4. Ads. This is the one thing Big Data was supposed to get right. By knowing every little thing about every person and continually spying on them, they were supposed to be able to efficiently target ads that would convert to sales. They now have the data, but the ads still suck.
5. Lost opportunity. I personally have been part of two related but different movements that would have been in a much more advanced place now if it were not for the ineptitude, censorship, and agendas of big tech. But the worst is they sucked all the oxygen out of the room, and it is nearly impossible to have an alternative platform. It isn't even just particular groups, they have made thoughtful discussions of all kinds extraordinarily difficult.
6. Time theft. They have a complete disrespect for their users time and effort.
7. Lock out. They lock you out of other platforms and services. Sometimes overtly, sometimes subtly.
Biggie Bonus: Reactive interaction. The big socials are tuned for reactions. In practice this means the crazy rises to the top every time. I'm sorry, but we have enough crazy in this world, the thoughtful people need a voice too.
It's been just 2 weeks since #[0] introduced #grownostr
I was on nostr before, but not very active. Now, I already have around 4,000 in zaps and ready 150 followers. And I didn't bring followers from other platforms.
I'm also following over 200 people now.
I'm all in. Let's do this thing. Keep posting daily, and let's grow nostr!
It's difficult to quantify the enormity of damage the big tech companies like Google and Facebook have done to our society. And it's not just the damage they have done, it is also the progress they have prevented.
It's difficult to overstate the damage and lost opportunity Facebook and other big tech companies have brought to our society.

I hadn't heard of Catia. And yes, I don't find FreeCAD particularly intuitive in the beginning, but quite learnable.
Nostr is a lot better than it was 2 months ago.

I don't know about using it for professional work. There are probably still pretty solid reasons for most commercial production shops to use more widely accepted solutions.
It would be a little bit like using Libreoffice instead of Word.
There are some things that don't work like I expected after coming from Fusion 360, but I'm not having trouble getting done what I need to like I did with SketchUp.
I've been wanting to use my 3D printer, but my hangup has been creating the models of what I want to make.
In the past I learned a bit of Fusion 360 and SketchUp back when it was an installed program.
This time I decided to try FreeCAD. I've already modeled my first part (haven't printed anything yet) and am working on my second part which has some pretty complex geometry that I am having to invent and reinvent as I go.
Here's the thing. This kind of parametric modelling like for 3D printing is what FreeCAD is said to do best. Yes, there is a significant learning curve, as with any CAD program, but it seems to be wholly adequate for this kind of work, and is a free, opensource program. I can literally learn this one program now and still count on being able to still use it 25 years from now without incurring license fees or having to switch to a new program.

I'm getting impressive results from carnivore too. Oddly I feel good with unaged cheese, but notice I'm slightly off with aged cheeses.

Same here. I haven't tried to figure it out yet. I'm wondering if my profile information is showing up across clients for other people.
Thanks for #grownostr. I was already on, but not really active. Now I'm all in.
Similar here. I went carnivore a month and a half ago. Total game changer.
I still drink a cup of black coffee with MCT oil frothed in. I'm more sensitive to the caffeine now though, so pondering the wisdom of an alternative..I don't have a lot of routines, and it seems like a healthy ritual for me.
It seems like Amethyst stopped following the hashtags I had it following. I'm adding the important ones back now.

I'm not in your area. A good teacher is preferred, but I learned from videos. It took me maybe 25 birds to really get my process down and maybe a thousand or so to get pretty fast, but they have all been edible.
Probably not by default.
Ugh. We seem to have a little bit of everything on the property here, but I haven't seen any mulberry, so I bought some. The Missouri conservation department has a nursery and we can get certain natives extremely cheap. I think they'll be fine now since they should have down some decent roots. We're 6a.
