figuring it all out I appreciate your humor, insight, and your post whether or not I agree

Yes, we are all going to be badasses, smoking cigars with leather chairs in rooms that look like this:

I hold to the view that it will be a slow decentralization century just like it was a slow century of centralization since 1920.

But on day 1 of a Bitcoin standard(for individual if they adopt first, or citizen of a Bitcoin country) the life starts improving.

I just realized this morning how horrible this inflation is. It's a reverse compound interest for the poorest wage earners and pensioners.

And then the sales/property tax is compounding on top of the inflation!

I always thought it was cool how people still read the Sueddeutsche Zeitung in 2015. I used to deliver it to people's houses at 4am. Even young people used to read the paper.

Maybe that's not so great anymore...

Crazy how much influence money can buy. And people just tacitly understand the demands.

Yes.

Thank you, I'll tell her not to worry then :-D

i was thinking about this. with the 4 year delay, bitcoin became finally ready for a Trump presidency with Art Laffer in his ear to really take off on a sound money standard.

or were the good times just unnecessarily delayed 4 years?

Turbulent Times: German Businesses Brace for Surge in Insolvencies

Germany's economy is facing a perfect storm, as a long-standing downturn and soaring costs push more companies to the brink. Recent data from the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle (IWH) shows a "sharp" increase in German business insolvencies in October, reaching the highest level in 20 years.

Researchers point to a combination of prolonged economic weakness and skyrocketing expenses as the driving factors behind this troubling trend. The impending election of Donald Trump as US President is also seen as a potential catalyst, with the German economy deemed highly vulnerable to the ramifications.

As the manufacturing sector struggles, with a significant decline in auto production, experts warn that the situation could deteriorate further. Companies across various industries are feeling the strain, underscoring the urgent need for policymakers to address this growing crisis.

Some data:

- German business insolvencies spiked in October, reaching 1,530 - the highest level in 20 years

- German manufacturing production fell 2.5% in September compared to the prior month

- Automotive production dropped 7.8% month-over-month in September

- Experts cite a prolonged economic downturn and soaring costs as the driving factors

- The impending Trump presidency is seen as a potential catalyst for further economic vulnerability

Germany is becoming a textbook example of what happens when interest rates suddenly rise after a long period of zero interest rate policy and interest rate manipulation. The economy, which was bred as part of the Green Deal fashion, is in collapse.

a friend in Germany tells me that she's worried about the direction of the country because far right wing forces are becoming more powerful. She even mentioned 1945:

"a new party has been established here that is clearly right-wing, that makes no secret of it and describes itself as right-wing radical. It is partyly being monitored by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. It's a party that wants Germany to leave the EU, in which no foreigners are tolderated. Germany had something like that before, until 1945."

are these just scare tactics of a left-leaning media/government who are losing power?

i always heard the adage home price = 2X annual salary of the people who life there. I suppose with really low interest rates that could go up to 3X.

someone told me 6X at one point in 2020!

i just don't see where all the people who can afford such houses are coming from. so IMO, the house prices in most places will all have to fall relative to median income.

Do you think he would give up his podcast or do both

love him or hate him, he had authenticity. he recently said "the kind of people you just want to smack in the ass" :-D

centralized cable TV finally losing power to the podcast hosts is a wonderful thing to behold

powerful story, thank you for sharing. I'm in awe of the power of Jesus.

it does speak well to His cause that he seems to have such a good influence on people! having children really does seem to be the ultimate end of man...

actually i've heard a catechism that "man's chief end is to glorify God", but interesting that God would then reflect that back into encouraging man to have a family.

in my case, i'm mid 30s, and I'm taking some steps to shed my old skin and change my culture. i don't know if that results in marriage or just "permanent bachelor" status as a gay guy coming out of a relationship and straightening my ways to the catholic doctrine. i felt called to do that. not sure about further instructions

Isn't there a proverb about how a new product has to be 10 times better than the old one for it to be adopted.

Nostr feels 1000 times better to very few people who appreciate lack of censure and frontier internet.

However for many people's uses it's not better, it's probably worse right now.

Right now it's best use case is the secret society of the Nostr.

But this Amethyst app is really beautiful.

I prefer the Craigslisty feel of Coracle. I wonder when Craigslist will incorporate Nostr. That would be cool. And then Facebook marketplace so i could have some trust with the people I'm buying stuff from.

Ahahaha, yeah I'm surrounded by Harris signs. However, the lack in of signs at 60%of the houses speaks even louder IMO

Some recent work on self-image took me to an interesting place:

- One has to have a clear picture of self image, who you are, ethics, what you want. With that, plus a gamification process, in that it has to be fun, it’s possible to make confident decisions. It is the bedrock of everything, a transformation vehicle, which combines a set of principles. You cannot create more than what your self-image allows for. In that sense it can be a limitation. Point being: what self-image encapsulates your wildest dreams, all come true, at the very same time?
