A friend sent me this article by nostr:nprofile1qqsqqx9hacelkffcgd3ecchzjtlvwq9xn2fmprhrwnzmm2t3exee2eqpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqg5waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t0qyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfskueqrswwax https://www.benwehrman.com/my-carnivore-journey/ and I can't help but recall my own one month carnivore experience back in 2021.
I felt absolutely amazing! And experienced several of the benefits Ben did.
The main drawback was a lack of energy on my final rep or two when strength training (heavy).
That's why I concluded animal-based would be best for me. Because fruit and honey give me the extra energy I need.
But my cardio was insanely good.
As a jiujitsu athlete gearing up to compete in bigger tourneys, I don't lift heavy. I lift to improve my mobility (light).
So I wouldn't experience that one drawback if I did carnivore again. Plus, I could use my insane cardio as a weapon.
I mainly eat beef, eggs, raw dairy, honey, and fruit, but maybe I'll give strict carnivore another go!
Getting ready for my first ADCC Open on Sept 28th in Chicago.
Part of my preparation is getting my cardio up.
A great workout I've been doing before or after jiujitsu practice is 10mins of jumping rope with burpees.
I call it Burp Jumping.
I know I know...the name could use some work.
Here's how it works
- You jump rope for 10mins
- Every time you mess up, you do a burpee
- It's a ladder of burpees i.e. one mistake is 1 burpee, next mistake is 2 burpees, following is 3...up to 10 and back down
- Do 10 twice
- Ladder all the way up and back down is 100 burpees
If you can jump rope without messing up for a full 10 minutes, you do zero burpees.
If you're like me, you'll end up doing at least 50.

My first mobility routine is up!
This is a 20 minute lower body routine that I've been doing to improve my strength in varying ranges of motion. It's helped my knees, my hips, and my back.
Most importantly, it's kept injuries at bay while I wrestle & do jiujitsu.
I strongly believe that every grappler should commit a couple sessions a week to mobility.
Hopefully this routine and the others I have will help.

Does each community in Fedi run its own lightning node? I tried sending sats from Strike to Bitcoin Principle, but can find a payment route :(
Led my first mobility class at jiujitsu and everyone loved it!
I'm no fitness trainer or professional. Just a guy who's found helpful exercises from years of experimenting and bulletproofing my body (ATG has been a huge help here).
Focusing on mobility and strength in long ranges has helped me unlock a lot of cool skills. And I'm sure it's prevented quite a few injuries.
IMO every jiujitsu and wrestling gym should dedicate a weekly session to mobility.
I was asked to start putting mobility routines on youtube so what we're doing in the room is heading there soon.
Nice work. Hang cleans are no joke
Lately I've been thinking through the best wrestling positions for jiujitsu athletes to work through at each stage of their journey.
After looking at ADCC 2022 data and what the greats in wrestling have to say...it's obvious that every jiujitsu athlete needs to learn
- single legs
- double legs
- go behinds
- front headlock position
With those alone you can beat 90% of people in the sport.
But where do you start? I answered this and more in my latest article.
I'm really having a lot of fun nerding out on this stuff lol

Thank you, I appreciate it. Hope it helps!
Awesome, I'm glad you liked it. More to come

Leading a mobility class at my jiujitsu gym on Sunday.
Combat sports need a whole lot more of it baked into weekly programming.
We're going through these bodyweight exercises
Exercises
● Elephant Walk – 2 sets x 20 reps
● Patrick Step – 2 sets x 10 reps (each side)
● ATG Split Squat – 2 sets x 10 reps (each side)
● Cossack Squat – 2 sets x 10 reps (each side)
● Middle split pancake pulse – 2 sets x 10 reps
● Tibialis Raises – 2 sets x 20 reps
● Reverse Nordic Curls – 3 sets of 6-10 reps
● Seated pigeon position – 2 sets x 20 reps (each side)
Cool Down
● Open Hydrant – 2 sets x 8 reps
● Couch Stretch – 1 set x 1 min (per side)
● Outer glute stretch – 1 set x 1 min (per side)
These have helped me unlock all sorts of skills like the splits, pistol squats, etc. Especially once I added in weights.
Most importantly, they've kept me on the mats feeling my best.
What exercises have helped you all most?
I had the chance to talk about my approach to wrestling for jiujitsu.
My goal is to improve wrestling in the sport of jiujitsu across the board. Everyone should be confident on their feet!
And I'm creating a system to do it.

Watched a video on it and I think that's the answer. Especially since I have an unopened one already.
My mom is struggling to use envoy and passport. It's far too difficult for her at this point and she always needs me to walk her through it.
Looking for a simpler hardware solution for her to self-custody. She was very good with Ledger, but I prefer a bitcoin only solution for her.
I've heard good things about bitkey and have used bitbox02 (bitcoin-only edition) in the past. Maybe one of those?
I also have an unopened blockstream jade, but haven't tried it yet.
I want simple, but more secure than a software wallet for her.
What do you guys think?
