get out of the big cities, in the small places small businesses are everywhere, they have to be

in eastern europe i spent a lot of time and shopkeeping was still a common employment, both owners and staff, and not only chains but many little places

it's a sign you are in a bad place when it seems like you are in a socialist gulag - where only authorised operators do business, it means GET OUT

really, i'm not foolin here... this is why i patronise my little local places in preference to the big chain down the hill if at all possible... i even mainly go down there to pull cash so i can come back up here to pay for stuff

universal problem with most devs in #nostr - not even thinking about NOT SNOOPING MOBILE DEVICES implementations because they are all brainwashed by big tech

i don't remember getting it running on my ubuntu based system

it might take me a while cos i'm doing it in my spare time but i intend to make a dedicated DM client that will be one codebase for every major platform (windows, mac, linux, ios, android) including, most critically, NIP-42 support

they are survivors, that's for sure, and i watch them every day swarming around the valley in large groups, and i can't quite figure out why they are flying around so much but i gather they are good at turning junk into grease and storing the grease so they can run a long time without feeding

it's not for nothing they are almost universal food animals in most of south and eastern europe for poor people, cheap to feed, and decent quality meat, and for bonus points you can use their poop to make gunpowder or fertilise your garden

hehe, yeah it's a disorganised crowd we got here, but we love them anyway, this randomness is a feature, not a bug, this is part of how we win, but it needs people like you shouting things sometimes

i forgot, it was known by some other name in australia and it's a quit smoking drug

it works, kinda, at that... but i stopped smoking because i was having a whole rainbow of problems related to my type 2 diabetes that included tachycardia and muscle weakness, and stopping smoking just eliminated that problem and i feel 1000x better but still have muscle weakness because that is a "type 2 diabetes" symptom... yohimbe kinda helps a bit with the extreme edge of it, the cramps, but my muscle weakness is still stopping me from doing any serious resistance exercise

threads are a general UI problem as a whole... the best implementations i've ever seen use revealer buttons, and from a back-end perspective they consume huge amounts of memory tracking the tree structure (not to mention the iteration cost)

my suggestion from many years loving this kind of feature is that it needs to be a very specific client that you use just for this one feature

oh i think i messed with that one... welbutrin, i forget ... yes, bupropion... yes that one makes some crazy dreams too... was originally targeted at being an antidepressant

was kinda cool actually, but i think i remember the dream effect was too intense, even daily dosing triggered it iirc

i did this a very long time ago, i think i was still a teenager... was an accident

i can also warn you about taking too much melatonin, that will give you some FREAKY dreams, i mean above and beyond normal

the usual cause of dream recall is a lot of protein within 3 hours of bedtime

if you want to make it happen deliberately, try taking 500mg of tyrosine or phenylalanine right before bedtime. zero sleep, all the dreams

i just encountered this in my steam feed... and i'm interested because it runs on linux:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/238320/Outlast/

it's an parkour action horror game, and i also play Dying Light and Tomb Raider games and actually yeah i need to get Mirror's Edge 2 at some point in the future but this one caught me first before i remembered

i also am very keen on supporting the development of games that run on linux, because i don't think that they have been getting nearly as much love as they deserve, and the overall quality level of the games that end up on linux is pretty stellar... really, some of the best outside of the AAA bubble

#gamestr #steam #survivalhorror

they look like doves to me, also there is two of them if you notice, doves (and their dirty cousins pigeons) are life pair bonders (notably also another beautiful corvid, the jackdaw, is also a life pair bonder) - you can be positive about their species if you are hearing them do that whole whoo whooo whooo mating call thing and one of them dancing around the other, and the doves do this thing often when they fly past "caww caww cawww"
