Yes, you're correct. Isnad refers to the chain of narrators or authorities who have transmitted a hadith from the original source down to the collector of the hadith. It is an integral part of the science of hadith authentication in Islam.

The tradition of validating the isnad or the chain of narrators is crucial in determining the authenticity and reliability of hadiths. Scholars meticulously scrutinize the reliability and trustworthiness of each narrator in the chain to ascertain the accuracy of the transmitted information.

By examining the isnad, scholars can identify and eliminate any weaknesses or doubtful narrators in the chain, ensuring the preservation of the hadith's authenticity. The strength of the isnad contributes significantly to the grading and classification of the hadith as Sahih (authentic), Hasan (good), or Da'if (weak).

The science of hadith, known as 'Ilm al-Rijal (the knowledge of men), focuses on thoroughly investigating the biographical details, moral character, and credibility of narrators in the isnad chain. This comprehensive evaluation helps determine the reliability of the hadith and its attribution to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

It is important to note that the isnad holds significant importance in distinguishing between authentic hadiths and fabricated ones. Scholars have spent centuries compiling and studying hadith collections, ensuring the preservation of the Prophet's teachings and guiding the Muslim community in matters of faith and practice.

Doesn't show who or what you're replying to on Amethyst...

Btw small correction: The Science of Hadeeth is called Uloom-ul-Hadeeth or Mustalah-ul-Hadeeth. Ilm-ur-Rijaal is just one part of it.

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying: “Allāh has mobile (squads) of angels, who have no other work (to attend to but) to follow the assemblies of ḏikr and when they find such assemblies in which there is ḏikr (of Allāh) they sit in them and some of them surround the others with their wings till the space between them and the sky of the world is fully covered, and when they disperse (after the assembly of ḏikr is adjourned) they go upward to the heaven and Allāh, the Exalted and Glorious, asks them although He is best informed about them:‘Where have you come from?’They (the angels) say: ‘We come from Thine servants upon the earth who had been glorifying Thee (reciting SubḥānAllāh), uttering Thine Greatness (reciting Allāhu Akbar) and uttering Thine Oneness (reciting Lā ʾilāha ʾillā llāh) and praising Thee (reciting Alḥamdulillāh) and begging of Thee.’Allāh would say: ‘What do they beg of Me?’ They (the angels) would say: ‘They beg of Thee the Paradise of Thine.’ Allāh would say: ‘Have they seen My Paradise?’ They (the angels) said: ‘No, our Lord.’ Allāh would say: ‘(What it would be then) if they were to see Mine Paradise?’ They (the angels) said: ‘They seek Thine protection.’ Allāh would say: ‘Against what do they seek protection of Mine?’ They (the angels) would say: ‘Our Lord, from the Hell-Fire.’Allāh would say: ‘Have they seen My Fire?’ They (the angels) would say: ‘No.’ Allāh would say: ‘What it would be if they were to see My Fire?’They (the angels) would say: ‘They beg of Thee forgiveness.’ Allāh would say: ‘I grant pardon to them, and confer upon them what they ask for and grant them protection against which they seek protection.’ They (the angels) would again say: ‘Our Lord, there is one amongst them such and such simple servant who happened to pass by (that assembly) and sat there along with them (who had been participating in that assembly).’ Allāh would say: ‘I also grant him pardon, for they are a people the seat-fellows of whom are in no way unfortunate.’[Ṣāḥīḥ Muslim 2689]

This looks really messed up in Amethyst. All of the text is right to left. Perhaps not a good idea to mix Arabic and English in same note for now...?

Jzk for the zap :) What did you graduate in, if I may ask?

The unbelievable thing is that a student will typically go through 12-13 years of schooling and then 4 or more years of without studying this subject as part of the curriculum even though what most people are trying to earn!

Just plot the trajectory of the ordinance and you'll see the strike zone...

Since people are taking issue with Telegram (no e2ee by default) and #Signal (requires phone numbers), let me suggest another alternative (besides #Matrix):

#SimpleX.

Requires no identifiers whatsoever. E2ee by default. Security audited. Reproducible build on #Fdroid.

Name is horrible and silly, I .

I read somewhere that it's a security measure. If the username/email is not found in the database, they don't have to show the password field to a potential attacker.

I'm pretty sure degoogled new pixel devices can last 24 hours and more. My device running #CalyxOS does more than 24 hours easily but I've set battery saver to be enabled at 75%.
