The way nostr meshes relays to pull content in is so much more "human" feeling than any algorithm based feed. You naturally see the same people pop up everywhere interacting with other people that you've seen pop up.
Its like the difference between being in a small town market vs an airport. Helps create a sense of community, even between people you don't generally agree with which is really needed these days
Maybe look at Pleroma, I haven't checked in on the fediverse in a while but I feel like pleroma used to be the more "based" platform. I think a lot has changed in the last few years so I may be way off here.
For sure, I only ever tried the fediverse a few times and it never felt right unless I was hosting my own instance (more work than its worth IMO). So far I like nostr WAY better
