Could be in the sense that hard money makes it harder for tyrants to wake war since they need to tax the population to do it. Also in the sense that bitcoiners tend to be peace loving people who just want to be left alone in my experience so them becoming more economically influencial could lead to influence over government away from war and towards more respecting individuals. Also competition for bitcoiners could make states focussed on pleasing their citizens rather than waging war. On the other hand, dependence on oil and gas for energy is going to be a constant source of tension so we will need nuclear or some other high density energy technology to be developed in all nations before we can truly move beyond the practical reality of needing to secure energy at any cost.

I updated my LNaddress to a self managed dash@btcpay0.voltageapp.io in an effort to be more sovereign than the WoS I was using previously. However, now when I get a zap I get no notification in Nostr. Is there some configuration I'm missing?

Supporting you Will and much respect for your POW with Damus, but Apple is a closed, walled garden. Always has been. Freedom loving people would be better building on free and open source platforms, imo. If we care more about "mass adoption" then we have to play by the establishment's rules. The establishment GAE/IMF/World Bank exists to exploit resource rich nations for the benefit of the G7. That's what Washington is all about and Apple bends the knee to Washington. Only Cantillionairs can even afford to buy Apple. It's a phone of privilege, made (well, designed) by the privileged, for the privileged. They don't give a damn about the Global South. Sure, Google doesn't either, but due to FOSS being a competitive edge for them historically, we have the lucky coincidence that we have a great foss mobile operating system in the Degoogled Android roms. Even stock Android beats Apple. (At least for censorship resistance and choice). It's painful but why continue to engage with Apple? You are trying to negotiate with the Death Star.

Temprement and circumstance. Temprement meets circumstance to determine the character of an individual. Some will always work hard driven by their nature or perhaps inner demons. But for others, that side of themselves won't get activated unless they are born into privation. Others still are born indolant whatever the environment.

Some people have a romantic vision of entrepreneurship and startups. They think it’s all glory and you get to enjoy wild riches.

The reality is that ā€œpassive incomeā€ translates to working day and night without much of a break. Vacation? Nope! Work! Family time? Sure, while you hustle to provide customer support..

It’s also no secret that the vast majority of startups fail. Something like 90%+ never make it.

Out of the 10% or so that do, most make little to no money. Only a tiny fraction even get to $10k monthly recurring revenue - and that doesn’t count expenses, taxes etc…

Startup growing? Congrats! Hire an employee! Fantastic… now you’re a manager, extra work! Now you have to learn about company culture, what it means to keep people happy, how to hire etc… lots to learn.

It’s true, occasionally you make it. That usually means full time employment as the founder. Teams to hire, people to keep happy, a never-ending hustle for new customers. If you’re not growing, you’re dying. Someone else is standing behind you to eat your lunch.

The very few that make it big and get acquired or go public, the ones you see in the news have had to deal with a lot of crap to get there. They sacrificed social and family lives to get there. It’s no walk in the park.

Yet, so many people try this path anyway. They could be working a steady gig doing the thing they love and surrounded by the best support systems imaginable, but they set it all aside to go for the freedom of building what they wish to see in the world.

The odds are stacked against a startup founder, but that doesn’t deter them. Why?

Because the idea of not working on the things you love, not exploring your passions and never having accomplished ā€œanythingā€ is not an option.

It’s an urge that will not stop nagging unless one tries.

I don’t know where I’m going with this.. just thought I’d share a few words.
