I was thinking about a better way to find past notes. That's a great idea. I'll add it to my to-do list.
I think Following+ conveys the idea fairly well (better than Friends+ anyway). Us nerds would understand Following^2 though lol
Regarding using a channel, that's an interesting idea. As for rate limiting, that would have to be instituted at the relay level in the same way spam is. Maybe you'd need to pay a small sat fee to post. That would certainly prevent most spammers.
Good morning all. Hope you're doing well.
Had someone suggest changing the name of Friends+ to Following+ to better convey what it is. What are your thoughts?
I imagine most marketplace notes would work with a single new Kind. Whether it's goods or services, the content tag could be a structure that carries all the needed information. Or perhaps clients should just pull the meta data from linked pages that have all of that information.
🙏
Way past my bedtime everybody. Goodnight. Lots to think about tomorrow. 🛌
Yeah I agree, a NIP is in order for a Kind that's use for commerce.
Tell me more... I'm interested in this idea!
Just thinking out loud about the Nostr marketplace idea... rather than have any kind of "submission" process, Nostrgram could just scan the relays for notes that have a certain hashtag (e.g. #marketplace) and that include any required information. Those notes would show up in a special feed that can be searched and filtered.
I really think that could work well, plus it prevents it from being client-specific. Any client could filter and search for notes with the same hashtag and organize the marketplace in their own way.
True that. If I get enough interest I'll setup the "store" and we'll see how it goes. It would be great if somebody jumped in as a BTC/LN escrow service.
Primary issue with an escrow service is it would be in fiat, which defeats the purpose (at least in the US as soon as you flip BTC to fiat you incur a serious tax penalty). User ratings and reviews I would hope would keep the scammers away. It's certainly something to consider though.
Seeing all the replies to my question about people who sell stuff for ⚡ or BTC got me thinking... I could add a simple "Craigslist" type interface to NostrGram that lets you search for products submitted by your fellow Nostriches. Each listing could have a few properties:
* Product and Description
* Cost (priced in sats)
* Location (if shipping is involved)
* Website (if available)
* Linked pubkey + DM icon (for contacting seller)
* Ratings and reviews (for social proof)
Thoughts? What am I missing?
I've seen that and love the idea but there's nothing of use to me that's close enough to use.
Ok now *this* is really useful. Flip BTC to an Amazon gift card and save the fiat conversion cost (which for me is 30%+). https://www.bitrefill.com/buy/amazon_com-usa/?hl=en
I'd love to see a Bitcoin/Lightning "Craigslist" type site where people can list the stuff they have for sale.
