explain.

I have a business, I am "at the top" of that hierarchy... which just means that I have to answer to clients... I'm at the bottom of the hierarchy that my clients are in.

ā€œWorking for yourselfā€ really just means having 12 bosses instead of one. Being an entrepreneur means answering to the board. Being a venture capitalist means getting returns for your investors.

You are always accountable to someone. Just love what you do, do it well, and be a good human.

That is not what I'm suggesting. I'm suggesting that one does not accidentally become a billionaire. You have to make a lot of sacrifices to do that. Time with your children is almost certainly going to have to be one of them as kids are time consuming.

If you have a decent amount of money, that can help you have more free time... kinda... depending. But "billionaire"? Nah, that is an obsession.

Mental health... if we have to boil it down, consists of two things, inflammation and subconscious thought patterns.

One of the most interesting things in life is undoing the myopia of the social context that you were born into.

Generally speaking, to be a billionaire you have to be obsessed with work. You might have a spouse, you might have children, but you won't have the time to earn the love and respect in this photo.

I’ve spent a good amount of time trying to understand what causes panic attacks, for me specifically of course, but also for humans in general. As you might imagine, it’s complicated, but one big component are subconscious thought processes… your basic assumptions about life.

Here is one of mine that I imagine is a popular one. ā€œNo one sees me, no one understands me, no one will help me.ā€

For a human, that is terrifying, literally deadly. We are not creatures that can survive alone without the support of some sort of family or community. When you have no one that tunes into you, no one that understands the struggles that you face which are unique to you, and thus no one that is able to help, that is a truly deadly situation.

If you did not grow up with those who tuned into you, you are almost certainly riddled with anxiety. And that makes perfect sense. When you have no backup you have to think 10 times as hard about everything you do to avoid ever needing support from those who can not/will not give it.

Anxiety becomes a way of life for people that were not tuned into. Anxiety is a survival strategy for those who do not have genuine support.

And so, the answer, of course, to this piece of the puzzle, is to go build that genuine support. To go find a community that does tune into you.

😬 they might just wipe the planet if we do that!!!

Tomorrow aliens land on earth and reveal themselves to us! ...which famous person to do send to go talk to them as our representative to scare them off so that they never come back???

Not sure as I am not single. But I do know that I see packs of single people going in and out of clubs en La Placita de Santurce.

When people say something is ā€œgood for Bitcoinā€ do they mean good for the health of the network? Good for decentralization? Good for adoption? Or do they mean good for the value of the bags they are holding?

When we first moved to Puerto Rico I was pondering how long it would take for us to learn Spanish. 1 year, 2 years… 5 years??

It’s hard to know when to call it, learning a new language is a slow process and I’m not sure you ever really finish. But… this morning I was driving around with one of my kids and asked her to practice Spanish with me. We were busy cruising through the burbs of San Juan and spent 15mins casually discussing our favorite TV shows and what we’ve learned from them en espanol.

And then it hit me, 3 & ½ years, that’s the answer!!!

ā€œCivilization has always been patriarchal. Without patriarchy society will crumbleā€

A common but objectively false claim. For evidence see Ƈatalhƶyük, Minoan Civilization, my personal favorite the Indus Valley Civilization, prehistoric "Old Europe", and the Iroquois Confederacy just for starters.

What is quite true is that patriarchy has been popular in recorded history in the past ~2k years. What was also very popular and core to the functionality of ā€œcivilizationā€ in recorded history is slavery.

This isn’t so much about history as it is about your values.

What are your values?

Can you feel it? The next wave of madness is here. Be careful. Most people will be overcome with hubris and dive into lust for fame and fortune. Their eyes will gloss over, and if you look carefully you will see the dreams of private jets in their minds.

This is my forth time navigating these waves of madness. 99% of the brilliant ā€œopportunitiesā€ that are about to come your way will leave you wrecked.

But the most dangerous part of all is that these waves of madness will reveal which of your values are for sale.

Keep your cool, keep your values, and say ā€œnoā€ … a LOT.

Don't do some collectivist bullshit, put blame where blame is due!

Ya I get that. If sex is biology and gender is social construct, then I think it would be great if we were all "non-binary".

Drop the expectations, be free!

You get told to conform to gender norms when you are being manipulated.

I’m only told I’m not ā€œin my feminineā€ when someone wants me to put up with their shit or make myself into a baby machine.

Men get told they're not ā€œman enoughā€ when they don’t want to be used as a money machine or go die in someone else’s war.

ā€œFeminineā€ and ā€œmasculineā€ are tools of control. Be free šŸ•Šļø

Front run your anxiety. If you're worried about someone finding out about something... post that shit on social media! šŸ˜

I was reading through my journals and ran across this.

It makes me think of this great clip from Dustin Hoffman discussing a movie he made way back in 82 called Tootisie, I’ll drop it in the comments.

In that movie he plays an man who is pretending to be a woman and he wanted the makeup artists to make him a beautiful woman. When he saw himself as a woman…

ā€œI was shocked that I wasn’t more attractive ...now you have me looking like a woman, now make me a beautiful woman. ...if I was going to be a woman I would want to be as beautiful as possible.ā€ But that was as pretty as they could make him.

ā€œIt was at that moment that I had an epiphany, I went home and started crying talking to my wife. … I think that I’m an interesting woman… and I know that if I met myself at a party I would never talk to that character. ...there are too many interesting women I have not had the experience to know in this life ...because I have been brainwashed.ā€

The world will shove so much shit down your throat. It takes decades to remove it.

A classic politician move… show up late and attempt to take the credit.

Good morning! Happy 100K šŸ“ˆšŸ„³

Congrats to everyone who can now take the laser eyes off your profile pic. I gave y’all lots of shit for that, and you deserved all of it. But, credit where credit is due… nice follow through šŸ‘

I've never seen that happen.

Mocking ideas in a comical way can change people's minds.

But mocking people will make them angry radicals at worst, or make them lose all respect for you at best.

Mockery is effective… at making people angry radicals.
