Is there anyone who is *strongly* interested in being an early round beta reader for my sci fi manuscript?

Near-future sci-fi, crime/thriller/cyberpunk. A blend of action and multi-character depth, and moral analysis. The action is key and all, but alpha readers thus far cried at the character aspects; that's what hit them hard enough to care how they would engage with the action.

Strict Requirements for first-stage beta readers:

-I need to know/trust you personally, either in person or very well online with high reputation, to the point that I'd send an unfinished manuscript to you. There's no strict requirements, but if you know, you know.

-You like sci fi and/or fantasy books, and would be happy to read and offer objective (even brutal) feedback on a sci-fi action/crime thriller novel within the next month or two.

-You can comment or DM, for privacy sake.

That's a small group, but I'm putting it here on Nostr first for what I consider my pre-beta or readers. I will then expand 10x on Twitter and elsewhere for my full beta readers.

Meanwhile, I'm in the early revision stage. Manuscripts won't be sent out immediately. I'm still doing revisions and working with alpha readers, but I'm at the stage where I can start *planning* for the next step to see who might be interested to be early beta readers. Nostr folks get the exclusive early notice here.

I do tend to move pretty fast, though.

All pre-beta readers that provide meaningful input would be mentioned in the acknowledgement section, if the book were to be published, which of course I cannot guarantee will happen. I will only publish good books, one way or another.

But like, the alpha readers do like it. ;)

I would love to. Sci-fi reader for 40 years.

7 years ago, a friend and I were in the Chilean Andes, we hiked up a steep hillside to check out some local biking trails. At the top, he casually said, "I think I'll fly down." I was confused until he pulled out an ultralight paraglider from his backpack.

I watched in amazement as he ran off the hillside and smoothly flew down to the valley floor. The next day, I sold my bike, bought my first glider, and adopted flying as a new sport for exploring the mountains.

My two close friends and I bought wings together and took classes at a local paragliding school. The first steps off the cliff into the breeze is a surreal weightless feeling.

Our learning process wasn't without incidents and some very close calls prompted us to dedicate more effort to learning techniques, meteorology, and flying more often in easier conditions. I wanted to be safer through knowledge and experience. Risk to reward ratio became a major driver behind all flying missions.

Mountains vary a ton in weather and conditions so paragliders come in various sizes to accommodate different styles of flying. We quickly learned it was good to have a quiver to enjoy different weather conditions.

As experienced kayakers, we could visualize air flow like a river, helping us progress quickly. We soon began tackling big mountain hike and fly goals in our backyards.

I started carrying a wing in my car trunk wherever I went, flying at official sites (where I could find them) and plenty of unofficial ones too. One of the coolest things about paragliding is hiking up a mountain and flying back down to your car.

Going to the ocean? Bring the wing. Great way to explore the beach.

(Thanks for the Commentary Eli 😂)

I even used my mini wing to tow myself to the top of some epic backcountry skiing.

There is something beautiful about traveling with a small extra backpack that lets you fly around and see new locations from above. It's a call to hit the road and go exploring with any free time.

If you're interested in paragliding, here are some tips to hopefully help you avoid mistakes I made:

• Take lessons

• Buy a wing matching your experience level

• Fly with better pilots who can advise you

• Always fly with a GPS beacon

• Always carry a parachute & first aid kit with tourniquet

• Fly in late afternoons for dampened, easier conditions

- Know that is is totally ok to pack your wing up and walk away from a flight aka take your ego out of it.

Paragliding is an incredible sport/hobby that offers unique perspectives and pairs well with hiking and skiing in large mountains or beach life. Keep present that safety and proper training are crucial to enjoying your time in the air. Happy flying!

Why do you say "step off the cliff"? We are not base jumpers! We take off into the wind by running down the hill )))

Googled it for the first time in 2016. Learned about blockchain, wallets, first altcoins, exchange APIs, node.js, TypeScript and AWS. Built co-located high frequency market making relative value trading bot fleet before hedge funds came into play. Made a fortune. Now a bitcoin maxi and lightning dev.

And if someone does not have the ability to make children? Are you trying to make them depressed? Because:

Life is not worth living.

There is no meaning to life.

No inspiration for planning and care about the future.

Decreased joy.

Life is neither novel nor exciting.

No one is innovative, surprising and imaginative.

No one shapes us into better versions of ourselves.

You won't be increasingly surrounded by life as you grow old.

You will be surrounded by death as everyone you know slowly dies.

You will certainly regret not having kids.

You are not honoring the sacrifice and suffering your ancestors had to endure by passing the torch forward.

You are dishonoring them by wasting your life on the meaningless pursuit of your own pleasure.
