A peer-to-peer model would be an utter failure. Your experience would depend entirely on exactly who was connected to the network at the same time you were. It would be awful. And slow. And unreliable. And nobody would use it.
I would suggest Coinos.io to get started because it's very easy, and it supports NWC. It's just a matter of establishing an account using their npub, then copy/pasting the provided NWC connect string into the appropriate location in their client app.
If you can tell me which client they're using, I can give you more specific directions for setting it up.

Yeah, it's only for diagnostics. If it works on Nostrudel, we know the issue with Damus not parsing and interpreting the NWC connect string correctly, and we can loop calle and Will in and see if we can come up with a solution so that it works properly with Damus.
Damn... I'm really scraping the barrel for possible solutions. Have you ever used the Nostrudel web client? It also supports NWC and I'd be curious to know if you can get it working with that. Just to narrow down the source of the problem and determine if the NWC connect string from Cashu Wallet works on another client. If you want to try, just go to nostrudel.ninja and login with your npub and nsec. Then go into the wallet settings and paste your connect string in the appropriate place.

Is there any way to check this or documentation I can read?
Maybe send calle screenshots of your settings so they can see how it's configured, and maybe spot something off that I didn't think about.

Bummer. If it doesn't show the deduction on your end, the zap didn't go through. I don't understand what the problem is. You're able to use NWC with Coinos, and it's a standard format so there's no good reason why NWC from Cashu won't work. It's frustrating, I know. I think you should contact calle from Cashu and see what he has to say. He's very helpful and responsive. In the meantime, you should switch back to Coinos and maintain the Cashu Wallet for ecash.
Also, why don't you make your releases available in your github repository for the mobile app?
