as long as bitcoin is worth >$0, it can be used as money, it does not need to be worth more to do this.

Coding puts me in touch with the universe, hear me out...

The universe seems like a giant computer (especially if we're in a simulation) with data storage accessible from the outside realm. We, all of us, are modifying the data on the computer as we live our lives and make decisions and build complexity in the world.

When I code, I feel like I'm adding complexity and consequences (written in static form), not just to the real world, but in a God-like way to my own little simulation in the computer.

Not many things I can think of produce this feeling... maybe playing music.

Why nostr:

What use does your definition of intrinsic value have thou? For example, what is the use of sustaining life if it is spent in a coma? Why should we consider goods that assist in such a thing have intrinsic value?

Value is subjective. Intrinsic value is objective.

Under this definition explain the higher value we put on diamonds over water.

Intrinsic Value is defined as anything that sustains life on this planet. Therefore, can you feed yourself with it, shelter yourself with it, and protect yourself with it? Anything that falls in these categories has intrinsic value.

Moreover, the concept of money (medium of exchange) is mind control created to keep our Species as slaves. We think money has value as this is literally mass psychosis.

Bitcoin, due to its scarcity, carries with it purchasing power, not value. In a world currently ruled by mind control on the concept of money, Bitcoin is the best form of a medium of exchange. It is the best digital ledger. However, Bitcoin will need to become a distant memory as it will be the bridge to get us out of this mind control.

Eventually, as we become more enlightened as a Species we will no longer need a medium of exchange and realize that everything on this planet is abundant and proof of work will provide all that we need to thrive.

The tornado cash case is going to likely set the precedent for what “money transmitting” means for purposes of bitcoin. The case will mostly hinge on how “transfer” should be defined within the meaning of Section 1960. As these screenshots show, the government argues that it means “by any and all means” and that “control” is not a prerequisite to be considered a transferor. They use examples like a USB cable being a transferor of data and a frying pan transferring heat from a stove.

By this logic, anyone operating hardware or software which Bitcoin runs through could be deemed a money transmitting business. However, this is obviously overly broad. My guess is, if the judge has common sense, he will see that a line needs to be drawn somewhere. The easiest line to draw is by making control a prerequisite. Otherwise the governments reasoning opens up liability to almost any tech company providing software or hardware.

The line of reasoning is simple:

Are dell and Microsoft money transmitting businesses because their laptops and software enable you to send money to someone in e-commerce? No. What about your ISP whose internet connection enables the transfer of data to complete an internet purchase? No. Why? Because they aren’t exercising control over the transaction, they are just providing the rails that make it possible - and have no further involvement.

If a guy reselling hobbyist electronic components and 3d printed parts out of his basement makes you nervous about your multi-million dollar company's profit model, there likely are issues with the products you're offering, and/or the amount of value you're delivering to your customers.

(And no, this is not a reference to just one individual or company.)

Just got a spam call and it was an Ai. Took a second to catch it, but it had the characteristic awkward emphasis and minor audio artifacts... but it was also good enough to be convincing to some. I'd be curious how many people get caught by it. 🤔
