l saw that. thank you. unfortunately can't edit the post for clarity. either way, it is unprecedented censorship for a phone company to regulate user content (business or consumer) this way, especially for cbc or marijuana...if it's not legal in all 50 states?

i would leave t-mobile with a quickness. like other service providers, according to their privacy policy, they are already automatically collecting the text messages of consumers and so much more just not fining them for it...yet. but they are openly monitoring for it.

i am all about stopping scams and spam, but not through invasive mass surveillance of user communication over their network. there better options

I agree. I know you appreciate clarity though.

Thankfully I do not use SMS for anything now. Everything is through iMessage or Telegram.

Not much better in some estimations, but at least I picked who I would let spy on me. 🤣

For me it usually means ā€œnon-tech/politicalā€ people. The folks who watch the news and believe it.

But it isn’t defined the same everywhere, so I agree its utility is limited, as I recently learned.

The average person did not have a computer when it was common for people to service their own. They were a luxury item. I made all my extra money as a teen doing that for them. Back when knowing how to make a computer do something made you a Computer Wizard.

We literally sit in exactly that spot in history on Nostr I think. We have a great thing, the early adopters are here tinkering.

Except it’s also Mac vs. PC all over again.

It is really cool seeing content published on Flare already.

I actually like the ability to self host the video (yeah, I use cloudflare, fight me) but still benefit from being able to publish to Nostr with Flare.

Thanks to the devs for treating us like grown ups. Gonna be a very useful tool. nostr:note1jwpdrvknmfax26y44ys7y4ht93670k3kxsp8ukj0ca20mfumsm0qp42j26

They sell rechargeable batteries for $4 a 4 pack. I’ve had mine for two years. They charge in an hour and still last forever. Best rechargeables on the market imo.

Is there IKEA where you live? Serious question. About to give you a life hack if so.

I’ll bet my fur baby would enjoy playing with yours. Fur balls are my weakness.

Matt Tabbi tried. Just not enough of an audience yet. I was excited he was here are sent some decent zaps. Many did. Hard to do scale.

I also think Nostr is for everyone. My view is that people need to change for Nostr, not the other way around though. They need to learn to value their freedoms. They need to learn how easily those are taken. Basically, they need to be awake to reality.

We *should* build good software, and offer good services, but the biggest turn off to Nostr for a lot of people are the things that make Nostr Nostr. We can’t (and shouldn’t) fix or ice over those things. We shouldn’t pitch as being as ā€œgood asā€ or a ā€œalternative toā€ MSM services. We’re not.

We’re something different, right? We’re *better* than YouTube or Twitter. But we’re also harder to use and require learning new things. Nostr is not an alternative, it’s a new paradigm.

Nah. The puppy in your pfp is too cute, and I hang with doggos.

This belongs to me now.

That is amenable to me.

We can certainly disagree on the use of labels, and I can even try to not use them in threads with you. Hell I’ll even give some thought to my own use of it.

HN’s criticism was never my issue. Much of it is correct. My issue is why we keep putting this stuff online as a viable alternative to other services, when it is absolutely not viable for most people at this point. It feels like we are lying to ourselves and doing them a disservice. Nostr is not friendly to the non-freedom/technical minded. A motive is needed, and we don’t provide the value prop they are seeking *yet*.

Because they aren’t seeking the right ones *yet*.

Hope that clarifies.
