I agree. I know you appreciate clarity though.
Thankfully I do not use SMS for anything now. Everything is through iMessage or Telegram.
Not much better in some estimations, but at least I picked who I would let spy on me. š¤£
Nice drone. Been looking at the DJI models.
For me it usually means ānon-tech/politicalā people. The folks who watch the news and believe it.
But it isnāt defined the same everywhere, so I agree its utility is limited, as I recently learned.
The average person did not have a computer when it was common for people to service their own. They were a luxury item. I made all my extra money as a teen doing that for them. Back when knowing how to make a computer do something made you a Computer Wizard.
We literally sit in exactly that spot in history on Nostr I think. We have a great thing, the early adopters are here tinkering.
Except itās also Mac vs. PC all over again.
I dont think we have a convincing corpus of content vs. say, YouTube, or Twitter. But itās the same chicken and egg thing as every other social media.
Iād love for you to be 100% right.
This was a good post.
Context dependent. Iāve recently had pointed out that context is important and I might need a new less contextual term. š¤£
It is really cool seeing content published on Flare already.
I actually like the ability to self host the video (yeah, I use cloudflare, fight me) but still benefit from being able to publish to Nostr with Flare.
Thanks to the devs for treating us like grown ups. Gonna be a very useful tool. nostr:note1jwpdrvknmfax26y44ys7y4ht93670k3kxsp8ukj0ca20mfumsm0qp42j26
Oh. lol. Not a parent.
My folks bitched about the batteries when I was growing up. Itās where my head went. š¤£

They sell rechargeable batteries for $4 a 4 pack. Iāve had mine for two years. They charge in an hour and still last forever. Best rechargeables on the market imo.
Middle left. Iām definitely middle left.
Iāll bet my fur baby would enjoy playing with yours. Fur balls are my weakness.
Matt Tabbi tried. Just not enough of an audience yet. I was excited he was here are sent some decent zaps. Many did. Hard to do scale.
I also think Nostr is for everyone. My view is that people need to change for Nostr, not the other way around though. They need to learn to value their freedoms. They need to learn how easily those are taken. Basically, they need to be awake to reality.
We *should* build good software, and offer good services, but the biggest turn off to Nostr for a lot of people are the things that make Nostr Nostr. We canāt (and shouldnāt) fix or ice over those things. We shouldnāt pitch as being as āgood asā or a āalternative toā MSM services. Weāre not.
Weāre something different, right? Weāre *better* than YouTube or Twitter. But weāre also harder to use and require learning new things. Nostr is not an alternative, itās a new paradigm.
Nah. The puppy in your pfp is too cute, and I hang with doggos.
That is amenable to me.
We can certainly disagree on the use of labels, and I can even try to not use them in threads with you. Hell Iāll even give some thought to my own use of it.
HNās criticism was never my issue. Much of it is correct. My issue is why we keep putting this stuff online as a viable alternative to other services, when it is absolutely not viable for most people at this point. It feels like we are lying to ourselves and doing them a disservice. Nostr is not friendly to the non-freedom/technical minded. A motive is needed, and we donāt provide the value prop they are seeking *yet*.
Because they arenāt seeking the right ones *yet*.
Hope that clarifies.
Some of my snark has caused consternation earlier in the day.
