My husband just said he wanted some wine.
I instantly whimpered a bit. Then gave him a huge smile and asked if he liked the wine π€£π€£π€£
Woohoo, we got our 4th battery!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
Hubby's been working really hard to get here, so it's a relief that it is now here, hooked up, and working!
Ah I see. Those are fun ages. They're little but also learning to be big. And even though you've already had a 3 year old before, I bet it's still a lot of new because it's a totally different 3 year old.
Do you have one set of twins or do you have more kids too? I'm guessing your profile pic is you proudly showing them off ππͺ
Yes, the, "what if nothing changed except I had mined bitcoin when it first came out and not spent any of it", sounds like a great idea!
The two most popular Swedish cakes are the Princess Cake (strawberry jam on one layer, vanilla pudding on the 2nd, and whipped cream covering it, with a layer of marzipan covering everything)
And the strawberry whipped cream cake.
I didn't like the strawberry flavor in cakes very much as a kid, so my mom would make a kids version that was chocolate pudding and mushed bananas as the 2 layers inside, covered with whipped cream. I made this for my last birthday and my in-laws really liked it. It looked big but it was all gone the same night! βΊοΈ
I'd say it's worth trying, so I'm glad to know it's on your bucket list! π€
I haven't had German cake, but I grew up on Swedish cake, so I'm spoiled.
Like with Chocolate, Europe is clearly winning the cake game too ππͺ
I took most of this from what my husband told someone today, with an added part of my thoughts.
I'm sure your wife appreciates you not knowing better before her, so she could be the one to get you.
At least that's how I feel whenever my husband shared a thought about "if I knew then what I know now", even about bitcoin, I'm like... "well, I'm glad you didn't so you ended up finding me, and I could take you to the middle of nowhere Sweden so you could fall into the bitcoin rabbit hole and we can be on this journey together π"
Tip for asking someone out on a date:
Ask them on a coffee date, using the word DATE. Be casual about it.
"Would you like to go on a coffee date with me sometime?"
"Sometime" being another key, as it removes any conflict they might have if you ask them for a specific time, and they already have plans.
If they say yes, you can either ask if they are free a specific time, or ask what times might be good for them, allowing you to them pick one of the times that works for both of you.
At the end of the date, let them know if you want to keep seeing them or if you had a good time but aren't interested in continuing on more dates.
You don't need to pick a date right then, but let them know your intentions.
This shows leadership and vulnerability, it removes uncertainty and avoids playing games.
Cake should taste good!
When my brother turned 25, we were both in America, so I baked him a cake from scratch and brought it to his house for the party.
One of his roommates tried it and was blown away. He told me he usually doesn't like cake, but this one was actually good!
I've since tasted some American cakes, and heard numerous stories. Sickly sweet frosting and tasteless sponge cake is not my idea of a tasty cake!
In Sweden, most cakes have whipped cream covering them. It's tastier but doesn't last as long sitting out in hot weather, so I understand the American frosting options, but still. At least let the cake part be tasty too.
Does bitcoin fix this? π€
Chatting with a mom to teens, she just commented something like, "Kids are great for a bit, then they start walking and talking". π¬π€£π€£
I instantly created a video in my mind:
Parents, ππ€ he's learning to talk π₯°
... π³π¬ he's learning to, talk π³
π€£π€£π€£
Thank you for the information!! That sounds like no fun!
And yeah, it sure does sound like someone's doing some evil stuff in the background. π
Doing crypto mining with distant access allowed is to realize that something was wrong at home, while being in a city 3h away.
We couldn't tell what was wrong, just that for some reason, the power seemed to have gone out around noon. We're fully solar powered so on a sunny day, that is a very odd time to lose power.
We didn't realize until the evening, but when we did we went straight home.
As we approached our land, I could make out the contours of our motorhome, so we knew that was okay.
Then we got closer and pointed our headlights at our solar panels and noticed something was wrong.
We've had them laying flat on some concrete blocks because it gets quite windy at times, and cows can trample across our land so flat on the ground is not an option.
There are three sections of panels, and the western one is a string of 6 panels. Only one was still laying on the blocks!
One was way over in a northern direction, having flown past the back of our motorhome.
Two lay between the motorhome and the array where we usually walk.
One was on the ground next to where it usually lay on the blocks, and the last one had flipped ontop of some of the other panels, causing a chain reaction of pushing some of the other panels over as well.
I'm guessing a bigger dustnado hit them π¬
3 of the 5 got their glass shattered, and a panel next to them probably caught a corner of one of them as they flew, cause there's a corner sized dent in it, but it didn't shatter, so that's nice!
We have a 650w panel that's gotten quite beat up and even ripped some previously, but still puts out enough to not lower the output of the string it's attached to in the 300w range.
So, with this knowledge, I felt quite comforted last night as I helped my husband put them all together again.
Our 3 batteries were full by noon today, so that's also a good sign, though we might have lost of efficiency from that newly tossed around array.
On a more positive note, we're getting out 4th battery delivered probably Wednesday, so we will be able to hang out and run the AC and mine at the same time as it keeps getting warmer this summer! π
So, what's happening?
Seems I've missed something and I keep seeing hinty posts about something.
We're off grid, so yes, but also no, cause we have no food or cash so if the internet also goes down... π¬
Ah I see.
I'm not sure about quantum computing because of what I've heard from people who actually understand it, and it seems there's a misconception causing the fear of ot taking down bitcoin.
But yes, as people realize what actually works, and work from actual first principles and decentralization and such, in the future there might come something that out competes bitcoin.
Only when my wifi is slow. They usually pop up if I wait long enough.
It has nothing to do with what anyone on Nostr says. It has to do with the properties of bitcoin being totally different than any cryptocurrency. Others have tried doing something Similar to bitcoin with a fixed supply and decentralized etc. However, they have a lot of catching up to do to actually surpass Bitcoin.
Plus, if someone calls it crypto, it's a tell tale sign of, "it will go to zero".
The only thing Crypto promises is that they will go to zero.
Bitcoin is the only one who promises longevity and truth.
Asking questions. Googling will give me a ton of unrelated paid for content on top of any actual answers to what my question actually was!
Yeah. "Okay, bye!" π€£
Recently made friends with a couple with 3 kids, ages 1.5 to 10 or so.
I finally remembered to ask how old the parents are, cause in my eyes, they're clearly adults.
THEY ARE MY AGE!
The wife is even a year younger! But they're adults! π€―π π€£
It's easy to detect the clearly older people, and the clearly younger people, but I've been the youngest of the "adults" in the room for most of my marriage, so apparently I have a hard time detecting the "my age" people. π€£
Reminded me of an older comedian who says he saw some old white hairs people, then he narrowed his eyes and realized "I went to high school with that guy" π€£
Exploring a thought that crossed my mind:
Hookup culture seems quite correlated to the fiat system.
When the money is bad and inflating away, people are incentivized to become consumers, but it hasn't only affected items, but also families.
When the money is good (like bitcoin) we are incentivized to think before we make purchases. "Do I really want this, and do I need it right now?"
It is a similar question that will lead to people finding a spouse instead of simply hooking up with different people on a whim.
Hookup culture is a type of consumerism.
We here already know that Bitcoin incentivizes families, and having babies, but I hadn't made the connection between consumerism and the hookup culture before. π€
They got rid of the streams too!?!? That's no fun.
At least the house that got built where I grew up used to have a house on the field but the owners burnt it down with fireworks one new years eve when my brother was a baby, so it was empty for over 20 years.
It's interesting how I gain motivation to work for money when what I'm working for seems within reach.
If it's a week away, or unknown, taking the day off seems mighty enticing π but now I'm in go mode π
