All respect to startalk and neil degrasse tyson for getting me into listening to scientific/astronomy podcasts. I used to listen a lot to it some 10 years ago and I love the fact that it's still going but it gets repetitive pretty fast unfortunately.

GM! Literally at the fork in the river which makes a good metaphor for the time in my life. The river flows, like time. If you don't make a decision in time the universe does it for you. I have been going left for some 13 years now and i am now steering my raft to go right.
Is it mandatory? That's the biggest problem over here. They make it mandatory by law so it makes it overly expensive. And they all work with levels. So when you are young and have your discount level is 0, and it usually goes up to something like level 12 and every level is about 5% discount. You acquire higher levels by not claiming insurance for a full year.
Additionally if you claim the insurance company randomly drops a certain amount of levels you obtained, which means that in most cases you are better of not making a claim and just pay it out of your own pocket.
I really wish i could just insure myself for any physical damage i cause to a person. That can easily spiral out of control it the person in question ends up in the hospital for a long time or some other permanent handicap. Now i really feel like i'm paying way too much for a few scratches on somebody else's car that i have to pay myself anyway. Either directly, or by losing discount levels so you pay it back over a couple of years.
It's really crazy.

I second this. I never try to be too political online because it just makes enemies.
i am in favour of the "melting pot" but you can only add so much material in the pot before the temperature drops and stuff won't melt and will instead collide with each other.
It's not just Germany either. It's most European countries. Apart from letting in too many, the unrest caused is not punished enough either. You don't invite people in your home and let them steal or demolish your stuff. Why would you let this happen to your country?

This is the best explanation and aligns exactly with how i understand and view it. I do not disagree on running knots though i can't really say how much of a burden it would be on the network if we still have to toss around the blocks with 100kb OP_RETURNS in them after a block has been mined. I guess we'll have to see.
Knots is the protest sign that gives a signal but can just be walked around and ignored.
