I like this and hate it at the same time

how many sats have you got on your lightening node to operate the channel. I've got a node but not opened up channels and prob don't have enough sats. any recommendations to get started? I'm new to this

How do you send USDT on lightning? Like how does that even work? Wouldn't you have to have separate channels with liquidity?

Call me crazy but tether on lightning is not the win most people are thinking it is. Fuck the dollar and everything it stands for. Where we're going we won't need dollars. I'll never use "dollars" tokenized in a bitcoin system. Ever.

Normal bitcoin routing nodes won't know if they are sending taproot assets payments or not.

By and large, yes. It’s the best tool for automatic payments; ie send 1 sat per minute while listening to the podcast, aka streaming. Also the most efficient way to send payments to multiple wallets. However, we’ve been recently shifting to lnaddress, and the players are slowly shifting to work with either keysend or less efficiently with lnaddress

In terms of adjacent technologies, I'd love to see the rss guys get some love. Their podcast 2.0 initiatives have integrated zaps and value splits which allowed them to expand to the music industry (ripe for disruption).

Their world has been colliding with nostr.

Rss as the music distribution layer while nostr as the social discovery layer. All of it coming from a self-sovereign pov, putting power back in the hands of individual artists. Coming from someone in the traditional the music industry, this is a very significant shift. Potential for disruption as large as napster was back in the day.

I spend a lot of time in the asknostr hashtag helping folks out. Absolutely one of the most common pain points is figuring out how to both send and receive zaps. Usually, they will have their lightning address in their profile so they can receive, but they haven't yet connected their wallet to be able to send.

Or else they are Primal users who set up the integrated wallet on mobile and are wondering where it is on the web, or why they can't use the same balance on another Nostr client, or they forgot to add the lightning address to their profile...

The friction of getting set up for both receiving AND sending zaps from the same wallet can be exceptionally frustrating for folks.

Meanwhile, NIP-60 eCash wallets can completely alleviate this. Log into a new client? Don't have to set anything up. Your eCash is already loaded and ready for zapping, locked to your npub so it can travel with you from client to client. And even easier for brand new users. The client can add a lightning address for a default mint to their kind 0 profile at the time they onboard and they can immediately send and receive zaps.

And amazing that you do this!!! The cashu approach is just a recognition that the vast majority of people won't setup an LSP, handle NWC tokens, and do all these things, specially not at first.

I don’t disagree but many clients are moving away from nwc and just using cashu

yeah but you still need lightning to pay from mint to mint so why not just use your node directly since the cashu ecash is just a wrapper around your lightning node at that point. That's how it seems to me anyway
